Is it A LOT of work to care for a person with DS? Yes
Is that good enough reason to end a human life? No
What then should we do? Build churches, families and communities that share the burden of care and make life more bearable for those facing significant challenges.
The Christian answer has never been to eliminate the vulnerable because caring for them is costly. The Christian answer has been to bear one another’s burdens.
When Christians remained behind to care for the sick during plagues, they were not choosing the easiest path. They were choosing love.
So what we need is not fewer people who require care, but stronger communities willing to share the burden of care.
ko wa related but if we have found a way to do christianity without suffering, just maybe we have found a way to do it better than Jesus and his apostles.
This is the beauty of the Imago Dei.
Ableism and eugenics value people for their function; Christian theology values them for their existence because it recognizes that worth is grounded in being not function. Every single life is purposeful and possesses inherent dignity.
If it was Christian militias going about killing, raping, beheading, kidnapping, specifically targeting non-Christians whilst demanding the application of a special Christian law, the so called 'moderate Muslims' keeping quiet now would be screaming at the top of their lungs.
Pastor Adeboye emptied the infrastructures of their fellowships in the North East campuses into the IDPs in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
When we got to Borno in 2017, we met empty spaces. I wrote a letter to him from Maiduguri, I told him all we needed, running into millions of naira. He sent the money to us. Everything I wrote in the letter was sent. I would write to him every quarter giving him update about all of us in the fellowship and request additional money. He will still send it.😅
I coordinated one of his largest intervention program in Maiduguri. A training and certification course for students in Architecture, Urban planning etc… thousands of students from Ramat Polytechnic, University of Maiduguri etc… it was one of his programs to uplift a society battered by insurgencies and the economy of the state crashed. A program meant to give a future to them by upgrading their skillset.
His greatest strength of not showing off is the reason many people, even his church members do not know 2% of his works.
I am trying very hard to remain civil. Still, I genuinely struggle to understand why, particularly among many men of the pulpit, discussions about Peter Obi so often focus on what you believe he lacks or where you think he falls short.
Rarely do I hear emphasis placed on the qualities that are actually worth emulating: a man who won his party's primaries fairly, who is widely regarded for his integrity, consistency, discipline, and enduring principles. These are virtues that closely mirror the kind of character Christians should aspire to cultivate.
Yet, instead of highlighting those qualities, the conversation often gravitates toward political calculations and traits that appear uncomfortably close to the godfatherism and morally ambiguous actions many of us claim to oppose.
I fully acknowledge that everyone, including pastors, has the right to their political preferences and convictions. However, I would respectfully ask that we recognize what is at stake. Our collective future is on the line, and the standards we choose to celebrate or dismiss today will shape the kind of society we leave behind tomorrow.
When I found out I was pregnant here in Portugal 🇵🇹, the doctor gave me a document called “Abono.”
At first, I didn’t even understand what it was 😅
Later, I realised it was proof of pregnancy needed to apply for a monthly government benefit.
To my surprise, expectant mothers here can receive monthly financial support starting from around the 13th week of pregnancy until the baby is born.
Coming from Nigeria where pregnancy is usually 100% the responsibility of the woman and her family, this honestly shocked me.
It made me feel so seen and supported as a mum 🤎
Mums abroad, did you receive any pregnancy or antenatal support where you live?
We made a beautiful jersey today for PieCup. I was checking it out to confirm the fit and make sure everything was on point. We’ll definitely make a few adjustments tomorrow. @CobsSun made it ❤️.
Forgive my background we are currently renovating.
I’ve spent the past couple of weeks building Looters: a public archive of Nigerian political corruption since the 1990s.
Governors, ministers, shell companies, Swiss accounts, the Jersey trusts, — one searchable graph.
You too can connect the dots: https://t.co/faIfzWfAIp
They don’t believe Peter Obi can fix Nigeria in 4 years, but want us to believe Bola Tinubu will end the hardship Nigerians are facing right now in his second tenure. 😂😂
If you want to do IVF or you want to remove Fibroid but you don’t have money. Just go to the nearest Access bank in your area and reach the customer service. All you need is just letter from the Hospital and the invoice from the hospital.
Retweet for wider audience
When Peter Obi was governor, he didn’t put any of his family member in office.
Nothing like governor’s wife office. 😂
These guys know he’s coming to reset everything to normal…na why tears Dey flood everywhere.
Nobody has ever claimed or insinuated that Peter Obi is running for president to steal Nigeria’s money.
Not even his enemies.
That is a flex💪🏾
Happy Monday my people😊
