#OTD 1550 ... Robert Dudley & Amy Robsart are married at Richmond Palace, amid ongoing wedding festivities for Robert's elder brother John, Earl of Warwick & Anne Seymour #Tudors
Seymour signatures: the top two are Elizabeth Seymour, (Jane’s elder sister), then Jane as Queen, Edward (the eldest surviving brother) as Earl of Hertford and two by Thomas Seymour. I’m not by any means a handwriting expert, but I think Jane’s and Thomas’ are the most similar to each other.
Lots more on Jane Seymour in my new academic book on her: Jane Seymour: Patronage, Material Culture and Image Crafting. Out on 23 July #janeseymour #queenjane #seymourfamily

Jane Seymour (probably) depicted in the title page of a presentation copy of the Great Bible of 1539 produced for Thomas Cromwell, who is also depicted. This was on display in The National Portrait Gallery’s Six Lives exhibition a couple of years ago. Surely it is odd to associate the highly religious conservative Jane Seymour with an English Bible… or is it? You can read a lot more on Jane’s supposed religious conservatism in my new academic book on her, released in July #janeseymour #queenjane #tudor #tudors
