The old you buzzes around your skull like a bee in the kitchen window. Don’t swat it. Be kind. We must hope that our current selves will one day step aside to make room for better versions of us. Shuttle the old you outside in a mason jar. Let it climb onto the lilac in the sun.

If you are at University of Arizona and need an in-person class to handle this ICE rule, we can do an in-person (outside and while at least 6 feet away from each other) independent study if that helps the situation. I hope my colleagues who can do so join me in this offer.

In 2 days this community will come together (masked/socially distanced) for a Celebration of Black Lives. The students are working hard to put something together that is thoughtful & intentional. Honoring our dead while also shining a light on the resilience of black people.

CW: Blood, Violence
If it’s not sinking in for you, if you think not all cops are responsible, watch this. Which side is being violent here?
Also fyi: rubber bullets are not supposed to be fired at point blank range.

"name one time Trump was racist," Okay, I will

1973: The Nixon administration sued Trump for refusing to rent to black people.

1980s: Trump's casinos were accused of hiding the black staff when Trump visited.

I’ve gathered a semblance of info on how to participate in #BlackOutTuesday:
• Buy black
• Do not buy from major retailers
• Amplify voices of the movement
• Financially support grassroots orgs
• Don’t post your everyday ass content - your selfies, your soundcloud, etc.

Despite the fact that I am very proud to soon be completing my Master’s at a fairly young age (23), I am dreading looking for jobs as a woman who looks young and ‘not like a scientist’ (which I’m told I should take as a compliment 🙄)

[Christy Bell @BombusChristy]

All this “murder hornet” fear-mongering is going to result in the deaths of so many native hymenopterans (and other insects that mimic hymenopterans). I’ve already been seeing it and it’s so depressing.
