LAUNCH UPDATE: We’re holding the launch as we wait for conditions to improve for the TOMEX+ mission. Currently our camera sites here at Wallops and in North Carolina are too cloudy to observe our vapor tracer release. The window runs until 3 a.m. EDT.

The TOMEX+ sounding rocket launch window opens tonight! 🚀🚀🚀

The window for the mission opens this evening, Aug. 25, at 10 p.m. EDT and runs through 3 a.m. The rockets will be launching from our launch facility on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

The first 2 TOMEX+ sounding rockets will release vapor tracers that will form milky, white clouds allowing us to “see” the winds in space. If you’re watching from the East Coast (NC to NJ), you might be able to see them!
