After childbirth, a woman's hormone levels can drop at an astonishing rate. The shift is so dramatic that some experts compare it to a man experiencing decades of aging in an incredibly short period of time.

At the very same time, the brain is highly neuroplastic—meaning experiences, emotions, support, stress, kindness, and neglect can leave a deeper imprint than usual.

Women don't forget how they were treated during postpartum.

They remember who showed up.
Who disappeared.
Who offered help.
Who added to the burden.

The weeks and months after birth aren't just physical recovery. They're a period when the body, brain, and nervous system are adapting all at once.

Postpartum shouldn't be another trauma women have to heal from. Yet for far too many, the recovery isn't just from childbirth—it's from the way they were treated during one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

BREAKING: LOL! Trump gets publicly humiliated at his big White House helipad event after the major outlets refused to give him a press pool — resulting in a lack of audio for his ranting remarks.

This one really backfired bigly on him...

"Yeah there— Okay, so there is no microphone because... There's no microphone because the pool cameras aren't there," said a Newsmax host reporting on the incident. "So maybe, Tim, this is one example of it backfiring just a little bit."

The video showed Trump cutting a ribbon to celebrate his hideous new White House helipad, but viewers couldn't hear what he was saying because of the press pool's absence. Since the reporters didn't show up, there were no high-quality professional microphones present.

On Friday, Trump barred CNN, Politico, and MS NOW from the White House on the grounds that they're supposedly "fake news," which just means that they accurately report on his disastrous administration.

In retaliation, CBS News, ABC News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC News banded together to announce that they would be suspending press pool coverage of Trump.

"The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should reject a news organization because it objects to its reporting," they said in a joint statement.

The press pool is a dedicated, rotating group of journalists, complete with cameras and audio equipment, that travels with the President to provide outlets with a steady stream of updates on his latest remarks and actions. They also provide video footage when he delivers a speech or attends a noteworthy event. It's clearly something that the attention-obsessed Trump took for granted. He failed to game this attack on the free press out and now he's paying the price.

And you just know that this is exactly the kind of thing that gets under his skin. He's fixated on all of these "renovations" and building projects, and he was presumably looking forward to this helipad unveiling. What should have been a moment of gloating and self-congratulation turned into a display of muted helplessness.

This is not a photograph.

Every leaf and every reflection was put there by hand, in oil, by the Danish painter Peder Mørk Mønsted in 1894.

It is called Wooded path by a river, and it captures the hardest thing there is to paint: a forest in full sunlight. Light through trees never falls evenly. It scatters into countless flecks of brightness and shadow, a glow on one leaf, darkness on the next, a glint on the water that would vanish the moment a cloud passed. Get those even slightly wrong, and the whole thing collapses into a green blur.

Mønsted got every one of them right, and in doing so he captured something anyone who has stood alone in a wood will recognize immediately: that hush that falls over you, the sense of being completely at peace, and the feeling that the whole world has paused to breathe…
