The worst Chelsea squad I've seen.
Not in terms of talent, but by every other possible measure.
Scorched earth approach needed. Perhaps 5 or 6 I'd be bothered about keeping across the whole squad.
BlueCo's pathetic failure laid bare for all to see.
I’m sad for Liam Rosenior, who’s just been sacked as Chelsea’s manager: he’s a decent, thoughtful and intelligent man. The problem lies with the owners, who don’t understand English football sufficiently and are wasting ludicrous amounts of money on a wrongheaded experiment.
It's hard to fathom the arrogance of stepping in to a century and a half old sport that you know nothing about and deciding you know better than everyone.
No wonder rivals and media are loving that it's failed spectacularly.
If it was any other club we'd be loving it as well!
Completely unacceptable performance by Chelsea. Embarrassing. No organisation, no heart, no fight, no pride, no leadership, no goal threat. It’s like they’ve given up at Brighton. Just because they’re near the beach doesn’t mean they’re allowed to be on it. Shameless performance. No wonder the fans are furious. These aren’t useless players, they’re internationals, which makes their abject showing at the Amex even worse. Overpaid underperformers.
Liam Rosenior will probably pay the price for this string of shameful displays and results, he’s out of his depth, but he’s the symptom of the malaise at Chelsea, not the cause. Club needs some grown-ups, experienced football people in the boardroom, in the recruitment department and in the dressing-room. Chelsea are such a contrast to Brighton & Hove Albion, who are so well-run on and off the field. BlueCo has to look, listen and learn. Because Boehly and Eghbali are currently overseeing a self-inflicted shambles. #CFC
Ultimately the reason we are in this position and fielding this squad in a cup semi final is down to sheer incompetence in recruitment.
Horrific squad building on display once again.
Maresca has never been good enough for Chelsea. He wasn’t qualified for the job, and the two sporting directors who hired him aren’t qualified to run a project of this size either. Last night summed it up he didn’t even realise he had FIVE subs available, and clearly neither did his staff.
We’ve had the odd good performance in the “big” games, but let’s be honest that’s young players motivating themselves on the big stage. When it comes to a 3pm at Brentford, Sunderland, Ipswich, Leeds, Bournemouth… there’s no tactical plan, no inspiration. Just slow, aimless possession around the halfway line hoping something works.
In 18 months I’ve seen nothing to suggest Maresca is the right man. People ask - who else is there? anyone. Literally anyone. And if they’re not good enough, move them on too.
This summer was our worst window since Marko Marin. Pedro, Gittens, Delap, Hato, Garnacho, Buonanotte not good enough, and most of them never will be.
Something at Chelsea has to change. Drastically. I’ve been home and away throughout the season and it’s been painful to watch.
@ChelseaFC give us a club statement.
Maresca, you can’t take liberties in this league, son. Demand of your players that they have to play 2/3 games a week. They can rest when they are injured. Stop being a youth team/ development manager. Be a winner.
Day in, day out, buses and cyclists jump red lights at the junction of Waterloo Bridge and The Strand just like below.
@TfL@MayorofLondon what are you doing about this?
