I've worked in a few organizations, but I still rate Sterling Bank as one of the most intentional places I've ever worked.

Everything they do seems well thought out.

When they decided to move away from T24, they didn't just buy another core banking system. They built SeaBaaS, an indigenous core banking application.

That was a bold move, and it showed they were willing to invest in building, not just buying.

The work culture was another thing I appreciated.

It's not by chance that they've consistently been recognised as one of the best places to work for years.

Even their branches reflect how they think.

You can walk into a Sterling branch, settle into Café One, connect to the internet, grab a coffee, and get work done without anyone disturbing you. It feels like more than a bank.

One thing that also stood out to me was how they treated outsourced staff.

If you performed well, there was a real chance of becoming a full-time employee. It gave people something to work towards.

This is applicable to AltBank.

Looking back, my time at Sterling Bank remains one of the best experiences of my career. Some workplaces give you a job.

Others leave you with standards you'll measure every other workplace against.

If there's any bank that will survive years with innovation and trend, that bank is Sterling.
