"Has councils three-year delay to restart the Waterfront Hotel study resulted in a missed opportunity for the city and residents to influence the outcome?"
"Did Mayor Meed Ward, who has served as mayor or councillor for 11 years, not understand the implications of council decisions that she worked for, or did she simply want to avoid inconvenient facts?"

Lets hope this mayor and council can learn something from past experience, put their political ambitions aside, do what's best for the city, and save taxpayers a lot of money.

@Chris_Ariens Why would the mayor and council support 22 storey's when the OP they approved says 17 ?
If they don't support their own OP why are they surprised no one else does ?

Remember back in 2019 when council told us they delivered the lowest tax increase in a decade ?
Looks like the same council may deliver the highest tax increase in a decade.
.."why does the Mayor feel she is permitted to sort of hijack an opinion from a resident and then attempt to influence there thinking."

Make you wonder about the results of other polls and petitions and if they were hijacked and influenced.
If you were hoping for the Mayor and Council to control the growth of new high rises downtown, their position at the OLT to support 22 storeys at Pearl and Lakeshore will be quite a shock. https://t.co/dPzWwU1kaK

How unfortunate, the mayor tried to politicize this vote by only providing part of the story and indirectly shaming councillors who disagree with her.
Is this the same person who campaigned on rebuilding trust, collaboration and civility on council ?
Anyone who is interested in further detail regarding the vote on Rainbow Crosswalks at Burlington City Council yesterday...please see joint statement below 🌈
Inclusionary zoning can be a good thing but, imagine finding out that the unit you are looking at will cost more than you originally thought to subsidize the cost of building affordable, below-market units in the same building!

If only Pete, (the mayors husband) would have enlightened us that during the previous election all the Gazette post supporting the mayor and discrediting the previous council weren't credible and likely out and out falsehoods.
MUCKY MESS: A smelly sewage like stench fills the air along the shoreline of Burlington Beach as a thick layer of dark, sludge-like material lines the waterfront. Beachgoers say it washed-up late last week and aren’t sure what it is other than nasty.
