As Pakistan's inflation rises to 11.7%, the key policy challenge is determining whether higher inflation reflects excessive demand or primarily the impact of rising fuel prices, energy tariffs, petroleum levy adjustments, and other cost-push factors.

@PIDEpk latest assessment suggests that recent inflationary pressures are largely driven by supply-side and administered-price shocks rather than broad-based demand expansion. While inflation remains elevated, monetary conditions are already restrictive, and additional rate hikes may offer limited benefits in addressing the current drivers of inflation.
