National Shop Stewards Network (NSSN) Conference 2026 this June in London.

One of the highlights will be hearing directly from the striking Birmingham bin workers, who have been at the centre of a dispute that has now been running for over a year. Their determination, resilience and fight for fair treatment offer important lessons for trade unionists and campaigners across the movement.

The conference will also bring together Unite members involved in a range of ongoing disputes, alongside workers from other unions, providing a valuable opportunity to share experiences, build solidarity and discuss how we strengthen our collective campaigns.

With a programme of keynote speakers, discussions on defending jobs, pay and public services, and forums on the challenges facing workers today, it promises to be an important event for everyone committed to standing up for working people.

I want to thank the emergency services for bringing the situation at Port Talbot under control so quickly.

Thankfully no one was injured in the fire and workers were evacuated safely.

However, the fire did cause substantial damage to a vital production line.

Measures must now be put in place to protect jobs both at @TataSteelLtd and down the supply chain during any period of disruption.
