@BBCSport It was a very premature stoppage by the ref. Why was Usyk fighting Verhoeven in the first place?! Moses Itauma stops Usyk in 4 rounds. But Usyk should fight Kabayel next. That's the fight all boxing fans want

🔬 “AMR is no longer a silent pandemic in Africa.”
During the launch of the Advancing Regional Integrated Laboratory Capacity for AMR Control (ARILAC) Project, ASLM CEO, @MrNqobileNdlovu, underscored the urgent need for strategic investments in laboratory systems to address the growing burden of antimicrobial resistance across the continent.
Implemented under the leadership of @AfricaCDC and supported by the European Union through the Team Europe Initiative, the ARILAC Project brings together 8 African Union Member States to strengthen microbiology capacity, develop a skilled laboratory workforce, and enhance microbiology laboratory networks for improved surveillance and response.
By strengthening access to quality laboratory services and generating reliable AMR data, ARILAC contributes to stronger health systems and improved health security across Africa.

A PhD is the highest academic qualification you can ever get. There is nothing above it. It is earned from writing and defending a thesis that makes a novel contribution to an academic field. A holder can use it for life because it is not tied to any academic institution. It is a portable award.
A professorship is a rank. A title for being an active teacher and researcher. In the US, any teacher in higher education can be called a professor. It is merely a descriptive term. But there is Chair Professorship that denotes an official academic rank for senior academics who rose to the top. They often go through Assistant Professorship and Associate Professorship ranks for many years. These rank holders have held multiple research grants, are running research labs, have diverse academic affiliations with other institutions and the industry, shape opinion in the field through constant research publications, and contribute to active teaching.
But a professorship is not a lifetime title. When people retire, they become former professors. Those who maintain some level of teaching and research engagement in retirement become Professor Emeritus/Emerita. It is just like being a Senior Engineer, or Managing Director. You can't retire and be calling yourself an MD, GM, or Director. You drop it when you retire or move elsewhere.
Nigerians worship titles even if they are acquired fraudulently. It is a political hook to use in fishing for political appointments and unnecessary respect from people who think the holder is operating at the top of knowledge hierarchy. Some of them are extremely good and their records remain respectable. Many of them are fishermen, fishing for opportunities that cannot be squared with their claimed academic experience.
I know real professors and I will accord them the full recognition that they deserve even after retirement. That respect will continue especially when they don't shove it in our faces. I personally do not want to be a professor because the value of that prestigious title has been eroded in Nigeria.
@NewtonAllan6 Sorry about that ordeal. That game by the traffic officers is not new. When one protests they didn't run a red light, they say you have to get a cctv footage to dispute their testimony. The time it wd take the footage, nobody knows!
PRESS RELEASE
The Ophthalmology Society of Uganda has become aware of this video currently circulating on social media in which an individual claims that massaging the eyes with hot water ( better at boiling point) can cure cataracts, refractive errors and other eye diseases.
We write with the utmost urgency to inform the Ugandan public that this claim is medically false.
The individual in the video presents this practice as a remedy with no scientific evidence whatsoever.
We strongly advise against applying any unprescribed substances in the absence of guidance from a qualified ophthalmic health worker. Self-treatment of eye conditions based on social media advice is always dangerous.
We urge every Ugandan who has seen this video to seek care from a qualified ophthalmic health worker for any concerns about your vision or eye health

“The mandate of BoU is to promote price stability and a sound financial system. What is the impact of this Bill on price stability if it is passed the way it is? Because of the depreciation of the currency that is likely to occur as an unintended consequence of this Bill, we are likely to have a depreciated currency and the pass-through of imported items into domestic prices is going to raise prices significantly. So, our inflation is going to increase via the depreciation of the exchange rate. That means that we will need to either tighten monetary policy further if we are going to contain inflation, or we allow inflation to go beyond the 5% target if we don’t want to raise interest rates. That’s what we will have to grapple with. This inflation of 3% we have been enjoying is likely to be compromised through currency depreciation.” - Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026
