For those that doubt educators. 👇🏼This right here. We love your kids. We are not out to cause kids harm. We are out to help them grow into great humans. Let’s get back to the narrative of supporting teachers and recognizing the sacrifices they make to help our kids!
It’s #BackToSchool time and Dr.@StaceyCole does it again! Check out some of our @StormLakeCSD students welcoming us back! If this doesn’t give you goosebumps, nothing will. 💚🌪
Teachers: I lend pencils but don't get them back
Non-Teachers: Just have students return them at the end of class
Teachers: I teach but they keep looking at their phones
Non-Teachers: Just tell them phones need to be put away
Teachers: Thank you I have never thought of this
Honestly, if you "don't know what your kids are learning at school," you aren't paying any attention at all.
Emails, phone calls, P/T conferences, daily work sent home, ask your kids... my gosh. It's not even remotely hidden by the school. #IALegis
Dear Students, When I am asked by a perspective employer about you…I will not tell them about your grades or the clothes you wore. Instead, I will share about your honesty, work ethic, leadership qualities, and most importantly, the way you treated others. #Pleaseremember
In one of my periods, I'm getting so much rage when I push for things that would be routine in a normal school year, like: close your Chromebooks; we're not using those now. Or: your assigned seat is at table 3. It's completely exhausting having these arguments w/ multiple kids.
It’s not the kids I’m worried about. It’s the teachers who hold them.
The more time I spend with teachers, the more I am convinced that I’ve never seen so many of them this tired, this unseen, or this concerned about our kids. Our teachers are hurting.
Teacher friends that are returning tomorrow or Tuesday,
Please put yourself first.
Please try to find something that gives you joy each day.
Please be careful.
Please set boundaries.
You don’t deserve this anxiety and fear.
Schools around the country are making a safe return to school happen. All because of the hard work of educators & school staff – and fueled by the American Rescue Plan.
