It was not an easy decision to have to cut down the three magnolia trees that have been there since 1954 but they had undermined the foundation and utilities underground. For the first time in many years, people can now see the full size and grandeur of the Historic Courthouse.
Here is the local #ButtsCounty COVID-19 report covering the period of March 22-29. State numbers are down again but locally our numbers spiked this past week. Notably over half our new cases were within the local state prison, so extracting those numbers improves our metrics.

The Butts County Sheriff’s Office has issued a lookout for Deadrianeon “Dee” Ridley, wanted for aggravated assault. Ridley is a gang member and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. See info below.

We will be publishing rules for attending the upcoming #ButtsCounty public hearings on zoning matters. Because we anticipate large attendance, and being mindful of our legal obligations to health and safety during a pandemic, there will be restrictions on attendees issued today.
The docket for the first meeting of the 123rd Session of the Butts County Board of Commissioners is posted. The meeting will be Monday January 11 at the Central GA EMC Annex and will be preceded by a short workshop. The public is invited. Social distancing & masks are required.
