We do not have to conform to a western terminology that does not frame our experiences and emotions correctly. PTSD implies the cessation of trauma, and trauma hasn’t ceased in Gaza in a long time.

Been seeing the term PTSD casually thrown in discussions about mental health in Gaza and I just wanna remind everyone that PTSD should NOT be a universal term, and that the tools that measure it do not capture the palestinian experience accurately.

In a setting where another trauma is more likely than unlikely, such as Gaza, persistent distress is appropriate, and constant fear is legitimate. Using a term like PTSD in Gaza draws a terrible parallel between experiencing anxiety while safe, and living the continuous trauma.

According to Al-Jazeera investigation, the bombs used in the last israeli aggression on Gaza are GBU-31 and 39-winged, which are highly explosive and destructive.
