BREAKING: According to Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Vance Boelter is in custody. He is suspected in the assassination of Minnesota DFL Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and in the shooting of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Minnesota state senator John Hoffman in Champlin and Minnesota state representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park were shot in their homes overnight by a gunman impersonating an officer. A manhunt is currently underway in Brooklyn Park and police issued a shelter in place.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against Olmsted County Jail and Advanced Correctional Healthcare (ACH) in connection with the March 2023 death of 59-year-old Melvin Bush, a grandfather who died due to untreated medical conditions while in custody.
According to a press release sent out by Storms Dworak, the attorneys representing the Bush family, Melvin’s death was preventable, with claims that jail and medical staff ignored his cries for help as his condition worsened from a perforated duodenal ulcer.
