5 Temmuz 2009 | Çin, Doğu Türkistan’ın başkenti Urumçi’de Uygur Türkleri'ni katletti.
Katledilen tüm soydaşlarımızı anıyoruz.
“Eğer insanım diyorsanız, Doğu Türkistan bir insanlık meselesidir.”
🇩🇪 In Germany, authorities uncovered a network of Asian rapists operating in a private chat called “German Driving School”
A group of Chinese students created the chat as a cover for serial sexual assaults. The 8 participants (mostly Chinese citizens) used coded language, calling drugs “fuel” and victims “cars.”
They drugged women with psychotropic substances, raped them, filmed the assaults, and shared videos in the group while encouraging each other to commit more crimes.
One victim, German student Ivy, only discovered she had been assaulted a year later when police contacted her. Her ex-boyfriend Tong Z. had secretly recorded her while she was unconscious.
Police found 2 TB of videos from 11 victims at Tong’s home, along with drugs and syringes. He was sentenced to 5 years and 9 months. The chat administrator, 44-year-old IT engineer Dapeng C., received 14 years. Another member got 11 years.
Most victims were women from the Chinese diaspora in Europe.
🕯️ 17 Years. The World Must Not Forget.
On July 5, 2026, protesters gathered outside the Chinese Embassy in London to mark the 17th anniversary of the Urumqi Massacre and demand justice for the Uyghur people.
Remembering those who lost their lives in the July 5, 2009 crackdown, demonstrators called attention to the ongoing repression of Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan. Holding signs reading "1 Million+ In Concentration Camps" and "the Plan to Erase Islam"
They chanted: "China, China, you can't hide! We charge you with genocide!"
The rally served as both a memorial for the victims and a call for international action, accountability and protection of fundamental human rights.
🕊️ Silence helps injustice endure. Remember the victims. Stand for truth. Speak for those whose voices have been silenced.

I am grateful to @RepTomSuozzi for his leadership in advocating for Pastor Ezra Jin’s release after nine months of unjust imprisonment by the CCP. His freedom is a reminder that those who stand for justice can make a difference. Still countless others remain behind bars, including my sister, Dr. Gulshan Abbas and Jimmy Lai. We must work to end the CCP’s persecution of people for their faith, identity, and beliefs. We will not stop until every unjustly imprisoned person is free.

Today we gathered in remembrance of the July 5, 2009 Ürümqi Massacre, honoring the lives lost and standing in solidarity for truth, justice, recognition of the ongoing genocide against Uyghurs and the occupation of East Turkistan, and the call for independence.
Tibetan friends from the Swedish Tibet Committee and V-Tag Sweden joined us in solidarity. As well as commemorating the Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen, who died after setting himself on fire outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York City as an act of protest.
During our protest we also condemned China’s new “Ethnic Unity” law and highlighted the Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to Sweden, and other Scandinavian nations.

5 Temmuz 2009 Çin işgal ve soykırımına karşı Doğu Türkistandaki mazlum kardeşlerimizin tek başına direnişinin adıdır. On binlerce masum Müslüman Uygur Türkü Çinli askerler ve örgütlediği paramiliter güçler tarafından ürümçide katledilmiş. Binlerceside tutuklanarak yok edilmiştir
A nation is being slowly eradicated by communist China, and the entire world, the entire ummah, is silently watching it unfold When you forget, you forget your humanity, your Muslimness and your Turkishness too don't go around claiming "I am human and I am Muslim". #JusticeForUyghurs
Since the 1950s, “ethnic unity” has been a slogan, “Long Live Ethnic Unity!” built to hide control. It made domination look friendly and difference look dangerous.
Along with the unity of thought, ethnic unity was an absolute principle of the CCP for establishing mass, nationwide behavioural change—conformity and obedience.
Over time, the mask fell off. “Unity” became a tool for forced assimilation — obedience dressed up as harmony.
Now the slogan bites outside China too. It’s used to pressure and intimidate people far beyond its borders.
When China was weak, it begged for unity. Now that it’s strong, the same unity is used to threaten anyone who disagrees.
And if the pattern holds, the slogan will keep stretching — far enough for the CCP to claim it can define order wherever it wants.
Thus, when the #Chinese communists use the term unity, it is not harmony but a threat of oppression and a clear sign of elimination.

As a journalist, over the last 17 years, I met him, saw him, and heard him in personal friend circles and during various Tibetan campaigns across the USA, including hunger strikes. His name is Lobsang Paldhen, and on social media, he went by Lobga Rangzen. The name Rangzen (རང་བཙན་) means “Independence” in English, and he passionately represented his views and dreams online.
When I first heard the news, I was shaking and couldn’t write anything. A mutual friend called me from the hospital to inform me that he had died. It was hard to accept such a feeling — a feeling of blankness, or not knowing what to do. This was reminiscent of the emotions I experienced from 2009 to 2022 during the self-immolations in Tibet. The news was shocking and sad, particularly because I knew him personally. Like many Tibetans, he was very friendly and kind, always smiling at everyone. He had a warm heart and a lovely personality.
