Background Information: On the Amhara resistance

For those seeking to understand why the Amharas are striving to free themselves from Abiy's Oromumma-centric government, the horrifying images and videos are a succinct answer.

In the past 30 years, and more intensely in the last five since Abiy's rise to power along with his Oromo parties, the Amhara people have been subjected to genocidal acts by successive Tigray and Oromo ethno-nationalist ruling governments and affiliated terrorist groups. In the decades Oromo & Tigray ethno-nationalist governments have relentlessly and determinedly orchestrated massacres, ethnic cleansing, imprisonment, torture, abuse, and disenfranchisement, targeting Amharas throughout Ethiopia, including the Amhara region.

After enduring decades of such state sponsored, promoted, and executed policies of genocide, the Amhara people have finally said enough and they are fighting back.

To the Amhara people, this is about survival. This is not a mere pursuit of power or political advantage, nor a scramble for economic benefits. Rather, it's about their basic right to exist and thrive as a Amharas within Ethiopia. Being Amhara in Ethiopia a crime.

To underscore this, Fano forces and other Amhara armed groups have clearly and consistently state that their primary mission and singular focus is to liberate the Amhara people from all forms of governmental, structural, and institutional oppression, ensuring their security and safety.
