CA4SSI is 200+ organizations seeking dignity & justice for the 1.2 million Californians on SSI/SSP. We believe that no one should be forced to live in poverty.

Seniors are facing hunger in every state — and #SNAP is a vital lifeline. But Congress is proposing historic cuts that would take food off their tables.

Thank you @CAgovernor and #CALeg for preserving SSI/SSP grants in the state budget.
SSI/SSP was created to protect our most vulnerable from poverty; CA must fulfill this promise by increasing grant levels in the 2026-27 budget. Full statement here: https://t.co/OZHYnlwYuG

64% of CA’s SSI recipients are on #SNAP & all are on #Medicaid. Californians rely on Medi-Cal, SNAP, & other programs that keep people secure, nourished, & healthy.
There's still time to protect our programs & our families!
SNAP funding supports approximately:
✔️389,000 jobs
✔️Over $20 billion in direct wages
✔️Resulting in over $4.5 billion in state and federal tax revenue
Thank you @SenAmyKlobuchar for visiting Coborn's to hear more about how SNAP is supporting communities.
Newsom has proposed restoring a $2,000 limit on an individual’s assets — including savings accounts and property other than a home and a car — and $3,000 for couples to qualify for Medi-Cal. https://t.co/PIEM7YCnTY
We urge @RepYoungKim@RepDavidValadao@KenCalvert@RepLaMalfa to protect #SNAP and #Medicaid. Cuts to these programs would increase hunger & sickness among older adults and ppl w/ disabilities, 64% of CA’s SSI recipients are on SNAP & all are on Medicaid. https://t.co/TxrTIcIFvw
We are grateful for @CAgovernor commitment to preserving SSI/SSP grants in the May Revision. We are concerned about the significant cuts proposed in Medi-Cal & IHSS. Full statement here: https://t.co/OZHYnlwYuG @Scott_Wiener@AsmCoreyJackson@AsmJesseGabriel
FACT CHECK: The entire state is not “under investigation.”
This is a state-funded program — started under Republican Governor Pete Wilson — that’s administered at the county level.
“While we fight Trump’s cruel attacks on Medicaid and the Social Security promised to those we care for, we will also create the additional safety net needed to keep our loved ones from being forced onto the street,” Arnulfo De La Cruz, Pres. @SEIU2015 https://t.co/1UhHFf1mIJ
SSI’s outdated savings penalities keep millions of disabled & older ppl from saving money and getting out of poverty. Urge your MOC to change this by supporting the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act. Use our simple form to take action: https://t.co/ZMK5IuEMic #UpdateSSI
About 1 million Californians on SSI/SSP should not have to choose between food, shelter, and medicine, yet the price of these basic needs exceeds the SSI/SSP grants in ALL counties. Support increasing #SSI so we can afford to live! #CAbudget@SenatorMenjivar@ShannonGroveCA
Older adults and people with disabilities living on SSI shouldn’t have to worry between paying for food, rent, or medicine.
