Fast food workers organizing for racial and economic justice in the industry and to rewrite the rules. 1st statewide Fast Food Council and $20/hr for fast food.
BREAKING: Today hundreds of fast food workers from across California are in LA to officially launch the California Fast Food Workers Union
We've won a Fast Food Council
We've won $20/hr
Now we're doing whatever it takes to win annual raises, just cause, and more
#UnionsForAll
This week we marched on the boss at McD's about Angelica Hernandez' store, one worker representative on the #FastFoodCouncil, and wrote a letter to @CAgovernor and the Council on why it’s essential law makers and enforcers don’t deny 500,000+ workers like us a seat at the table.
Yesterday we converged on Sacramento to rally around the success of the statewide $20 fast food minimum wage, plan on how to ensure the Fast Food Council keeps up the progress workers in our industry demand, and to release the official California Fast Food Workers Union anthem.
NOW: We're bringing our stories to @CAgovernor on why it's so critical the #FastFoodCouncil Acts now to deliver on the promises that he signed on paper.
We're officially announcing our anthem outside his office.
While we’re in Sacramento @SEIUUSWW members are in the streets of San Francisco.
California fast food workers stand in solidarity with nearly 14,000 California security workers as they stand up to demand respect, dignity, and fair conditions.
Estamos en la lucha!
We protect office buildings across the Bay, it’s past time the security industry pay!
We’re kicking off our campaign for a strong contract that pays us and provides the benefit and dignity we deserve.
Respect those who protect!
#StandForSecurity
Today we’re in Sacramento to celebrate the success of AB 1228, which created the $20 Fast Food Minimum Wage & #FastFoodCouncil.
630,000 CA fast food workers need the Council to keep up the work it started, especially as we continue to deal with violations across our industry.
A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much.
Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment.
And prices only increased 1.5%. So a $4 burger would now be $4.06.
At the same time, hundreds of thousands of workers got substantial raises, with the average raise registering at more than 10%.

2 years later and the results are in: California's $20 fast food minimum wage not only raised wages for hundreds of thousands of workers, it also resulted in NO JOB LOSSES and MINIMAL price changes. https://t.co/4PYkh26ho0
@IRLEUCB@CAFastFoodUnion
Contrary to what right-wing media tell you, the $20 an hour minimum wage in California's fast-food industry is raising incomes, without costing jobs. The effect on prices is minimal https://t.co/C2bRzTjwGb
NEW STUDY REFUTES MAGA MELTDOWN: 2-year study finds California’s Fast Food min wage increase:
✅ Significantly increased worker pay.
✅ Led to modest price increases (6 cents on a $4 item).
✅ DID NOT reduce employment in the fast food sector.
Starbucks is infamous for unpredictable, chaotic scheduling and understaffing.
In Los Angeles, we're urging City Hall to pass the LA Fast Food Fair Work ordinance. Workers deserve fair hours and fair scheduling from companies that can easily afford it!
It’s already been established that fair scheduling helps prevent high employee turnover, which is why fast food workers need fair scheduling too!
Less turnover means less time on the clock spent training new workers.

We just introduced a bill for our right to unionize. We are the backbone of this industry.
✅ Fair Pay is a right.
✅ Safety is a right.
✅ A Union is a NECESSITY.
We have the power to make this happen. See you at the Statehouse.✊
Union #Starbucks baristas have taken the world by storm since launching a historic unfair labor practice strike in November.
It's time for customers and allies to take this fight to the next level.
