Meet Flying Officer Ananya Phadke
A Khelo India badminton gold medallist.
An outstanding medical graduate from AFMC, Pune.
And now, a commissioned officer of the Indian Air Force.
Flying Officer Ananya Phadke received the prestigious President’s Gold Medal.
She was named the Best All-Round Outgoing Medical Graduate of AFMC.
She also won the Kalinga Trophy for exemplary overall performance.
In 2019, she clinched gold in the Under-17 doubles category at the Khelo India Youth Games.
She successfully balanced competitive badminton with demanding medical studies.
At AFMC, she excelled in academics, clinical training, sports, leadership and military discipline.
Her parents, Dr Sachin Phadke and Dr Gautami Phadke, are both dentists.
They proudly witnessed her commissioning and award ceremony on 10 July 2026.
She was among 141 medical graduates commissioned from AFMC’s 60th Batch.
Seventeen officers from the batch joined the Indian Air Force.
Her journey reflects discipline, perseverance and all-round excellence.

Surg VAdm Arti Sarin, #DGAFMS, reviewed the Commissioning Parade of the graduating cadets of #AFMC at Capt Devashish Sharma, KC Ground on 10 Jul 2026. A total of 144 cadets successfully passed out, of whom 141 were commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services. The newly commissioned officers comprise 112 for the Army, 17 for the Indian Air Force and 12 for the Indian Navy, including four cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the #DGAFMS urged them to uphold the highest standards of professional excellence, military ethos, compassion and selfless service in the care of the Nation’s soldiers, sailors, air warriors and veterans. The parade, commanded by Lt Nikhil Kumar Jha, was followed by the Academic Awards Ceremony recognising excellence in academics and all-round achievements.

Air Force School Gandhinagar successfully conducted a three-day workshop on 'Promoting Inclusive Practices and Supporting Children with Special Needs' from 07-09 Jul 26 under the aegis of HQ SWAC. The workshop brought together students, parents, staff, Special Educators and nominated teachers from Air Force Schools across the SWAC AOR to promote inclusive education and strengthen support systems for Children with Special Needs.
The sessions were conducted by Dr Shilpa Sharma from Psych Chetna Institute of Mumbai and experts from Composite Regional Centre, Ahmedabad. The workshop concluded with an inspiring address by AVM GS Bhullar, Chairman, Command School Management Committee, reaffirming IAF's commitment towards inclusive and equitable education for all.

Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief,
Training Command, IAF visited Medical Training Centre(MTC) and Air Force Institute of Dental Sciences (AFIDS) at Bengaluru on 08 Jul 26.
During the visit, the AOC-in-C was briefed on the role, training curriculum and achievements of MTC in producing medical professionals. He inspected the advanced Human Anatomy and Physiology training simulator. He also evaluated critical casualty evacuation procedure and infrastructure.
At AFIDS, he appreciated the institute's commitment to the highest standards of patient care, clinical excellence, research and professional training in military and aviation dentistry.
He interacted with staff and Trainees and appreciated the high quality of training and effective use of modern technology.

Health and Wellness Outreach 🇮🇳
On 04 Jul 2026, the Indian Army conducted a Medical Awareness and Wellness Camp for approximately 50 villagers, including women and children, in a remote village of Ladakh.
The camp focused on awareness of lifestyle diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity and Dental Health, while promoting balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, timely health screening and preventive healthcare. Dedicated sessions on women's and children's health and hygiene, along with a Yoga session, reinforced the importance of healthy living and community well-being.
Strengthening the enduring bond between the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh through compassion, care and service.
