@peterhreynolds in an early celebration of #dotday, my students created three creative, courageous, and collaborative art pieces in class today. One of the experiences invited them to design a series of wooden discs that they’ve hidden all around the Vanderbilt campus.
And the final one gave us a space to name the values we shared as a community and commit to the qualities we continue to bring to it to make it stronger.
@mbateman I don't believe the needs of learners have changed, but I do see the ways in which their dignity is increasingly eroded. Let's focus on the adults.
I am the lucky professor who gets to teach an honors seminar in #PercyJackson, #Adolescence and #virtue@vupeabody and I have just read 21 perfectly crafted pages on the relationship of free will and fate in the #PJO universe. My students are brilliant. That is all.
Teaching again this Spring, "Percy Jackson and the Quest for Good Demons," the development of virtue in adolescence. I have resources available for any #middleschoolteacher (or #PJO fan.) Happy to share. Lemme know if you'd like a copy! @PercySeries@rickriordan

@grrenshaw @woo_ten@NashvilleScene Especially if that transit system is based on a regressive tax that further disenfranchises people living in poverty. It’s gluttony.
A favorite Jesuit joke for today's feast of St. Ignatius:
There was a miser who had three sons-- all three became priests. One joined the Dominicans, another the Franciscans, and the third joined the Jesuits.
@woo_ten @grrenshaw @NashvilleScene Alas, I can't DM you directly, @woo_ten to invite you more appropriately for dialogue, but it is an earnest invitation.
@woo_ten @grrenshaw @NashvilleScene Not meant to be disrespectful... offering a little levity since it seems like sometimes the nesters get a little too very serious. 😊 Happy to call you by your name, Jeremiah, and happier still to buy you a cup of coffee where we could talk like neighbors.
@Sans_comic_sans@NashvilleScene We didn't get those conversations, but we did get enough time for the engagement to quiet down, enough time for folks to look away. The @NashvilleScene should know better than to let itself be used to astroturf the return of these bills.
@Sans_comic_sans@NashvilleScene It's all business strategy. Remember five months ago, when we were promised more conversation and community involvement to make sure that the Empty NEST legislation would reflect the values of the city?
@woo_ten @grrenshaw @NashvilleScene As another educator, Jerbear, you know that can't be summed up in 280 characters. I'm not looking for snarky repartee. I'm looking for honest, transparent dialogue about the next Nashville. And in the meantime, I'm disappointed in the @NashvilleScene.
@woo_ten @grrenshaw @NashvilleScene Common sense protections against the further gentrification of diverse neighborhoods and displacement of neighbors by dollar-happy developers who are more concerned with their profit margin than with human beings.
