The goal of the #CanChooseYourShoe campaign is to demolish the stigma around women having to wear heels in the workplace - and raising awareness to those unaware of the pressures on women in the workplace.
The #CanChooseYourShoe Challenge!
1. Have your male counterparts walk in heels for at least 2 minutes!
2. How did it make them feel, (i.e: Was it difficult? Painful? Fun?)
3. Take a picture & caption it #CanChooseYourShoe
4. Follow us on all of our social media platforms!
A fun fact for #WisdomWednesday: The number or reported injuries in high heels have DOUBLED in the last decade according to the Consumer Product Safety Commissioner (2015). This has been caused by women wearing heels in situations and environments they were deemed unsafe in.
When we listen society dictate what we can and can’t wear to be taken seriously, we are allowing society to value our appearance more than our abilities. This is perpetuating the sexualization of women in the workplace. #CanChooseYourShoe#TuesdayThoughts
It's possible to wear high heels and also want equality in the workplace. Heels tire women physically, but they're even more tired of being expected to conform to standards of beauty, and especially ones put in place by business' - and men.
