Together with the MiCAR authorisation held by Bybit EU GmbH, it creates complementary regulatory foundations for connecting crypto-assets.

From 25 August 2026, Belarusian nationals and residents may not own, control or manage any MiCA-licensed crypto-asset service provider in the EU.

Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/1847, adopted on 23 July, widens a ban that until now covered only wallet, account and custody services. It now reaches all 10 MiCA services: trading platforms, exchange, order execution, transfers, placing, advice and portfolio management.

Owning crypto is not affected, only ownership, control and board seats in a licensed firm. EU CASPs have a month to review their shareholder and governance records.

3 weeks after the 1 July MiCA deadline, here is what the ESMA register actually shows:

294 crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) now hold a MiCA licence, issued by 26 national regulators and covering all 30 EU/EEA markets.

The pre-deadline rush was real: 70 licences were granted in June 2026 alone, the biggest month since MiCA applied.

Since 1 July? Just 6 new authorisations (CPS Europe, OSL EU, SMART VALOR, IQANA, and two German cooperative banks).

Where the licences come from:
🇩🇪 Germany 59 (1 in 5 of all licences)
🇫🇷 France 31
🇳🇱 Netherlands 28
🇲🇹 Malta 22
🇨🇾 Cyprus 21
+ 21 more countries with 133 licences combined

Any exchange still serving EU clients without a MiCA (CASP) authorisation is now operating outside the transition regime.

Following yesterday's update, Portugal @bancodeportugal has joined the ranks of countries that have granted at least one CASP license.

Out of 30 countries, 4 have not yet issued any licenses:
- Greece,
- Hungary,
- Romania,
- and Poland.
