@oud999_sk@jacobincambodia and failed to send the border demarcation committee to finalize the process? They let it drag on until war broke out, then forcefully and illegally seized control of Cambodian land and refused to withdraw their troops
@oud999_sk@jacobincambodia If it is as you say, why are Thai people able to live, build houses, and cultivate farming in that area, while Cambodian people cannot? From the 2000 MOU until now, why has the Thai side consistently avoided meetings, delayed resolutions,
Thai media are hungry for a Cambodia scare story and decided to completely mischaracterize an unchanged U.S. State Department travel advisory.
Amarin somehow turned it into “U.S. warns tourists: do not go to Cambodia.” Manager Online went with “Dangerous territory!” TOP News simply screams “Danger!”
The actual advisory is UNCHANGED and remains at Level 2. The “Do Not Travel” warning is for areas within 50 km of the Thai border because of the Cambodia-Thailand conflict.
And Phnom Penh crime? This is the typical overly cautious State Department due diligence, not some new warning that tourists should stay away.
If this is the game Thai media want to play, maybe the State Department should issue a special Pattaya warning. Take every robbery, scam and ugly crime story there and run “DANGEROUS THAILAND!” across the top. Same standard.
There are two ways to read Sihasak's combative opening address: 1) It is a sign that Thailand is unwilling to participate in the conciliation process in good faith; 2) that he did it mostly to mollify domestic constituencies but is willing to reach a settlement.
Cambodia and Thailand began their compulsory conciliation process in Singapore on September 15, but they did not begin from the same script.

@jacobincambodia Thais new narrative for their people that Khmers used to live in their territory during Khmer Rouge and refuse to leave! They don’t know that UN Refugee camp in thailand and Refugee camp along the border in Cambodia are different?? Or they pretend not to know?
