Oh, wait, did we say Russia? We meant the UK.
I’m proud of being able to use my illness to push boundaries to obtain new scientific knowledge re the brain cancer #glioblastoma. Today is a special #anniversary day for me.
Instead of a stereotactic core biopsy for initial confirmatory diagnosis of my glioblastoma, one year, one month & one day ago today, I had a riskier open #craniotomy surgical procedure. This was performed to obtain more tumour tissue before I received a combination of different types of #immunotherapy drugs neoadjuvantly (ie before debulking surgery which occurred 16 days later). This facilitated subsequent more in depth scientific #research to be conducted comparing my #brain tumour before (pre) & after (post) I had received #neoadjuvant combination immunotherapy.
The research, which has been submitted for publication and is undergoing external peer review, excitingly showed data that immunotherapy was having an effect on the number & type of immune cells within my tumour. But ultimately a #clinical #trial needs to be performed to determine whether such changes with neoadjuvant combination immunotherapy translate into better clinical outcomes for glioblastoma patients.
A #cancer journey is incredibly difficult for patients and their families and just as I continue to rely on my neuro-oncology clinical team for their expert guidance, I strongly encourage all brain cancer patients to continue consulting their own medical teams.

You may have heard about a "parade of planets" on June 3. Be aware that most of them will be either too close to the rising Sun or too faint to see. But look for reddish Mars between Saturn and the slim crescent Moon. More tips about upcoming sky events: https://t.co/dBPuOUuaiR

This is the most precise image of the brain ever obtained, thanks to the CEA's MRI scanner, the most powerful in the world.
It's a major breakthrough and a huge hope for the study of our health. Congratulations to the Iseult project team.
Iconic!
Patients must know who's treating them & when this is, and isn't, a doctor. Lack of distinction between doctors & physician associates can lead to tragic consequences. The Lords must vote against regulating PAs/AAs via the GMC. Email a Peer today @TheBMA https://t.co/ftzQxexFtY
If you don’t pay NHS doctors what they’re worth for doing a high risk, highly complex, life-saving job - or restore their pay to what it was worth in 2008 - many will switch careers or move to countries that pay better. No amount of physician associates can make up for that loss.
