@dr_kai_phd Most people that will watch Taskmaster aren't terminally online yanks. They're 55 year old brits who are excited to watch that bloke from Little Britain. As for Ayoade, having transphobic mates is less of a dealbreaker in the UK and more of a legal requirement.
@slimygirlholes@thelongmarch86 I think more colour would make them better. Maybe have local artists decorate them or something. Concrete on its own isn't the nicest material.
@ghostysapphic I'm sorry but Taskmaster was always a traditional british comedy. It was never the ultra-woke tumblr show you clearly believe it to be. It had David Baddiel in for god's sake.
@TheAnorakZone We need to go back to basics and have an old flamboyant asexual and a kid on their gap year bumble around quarries and fight allegories for thatcherism that look like they were thrown together by an exhausted art department with a budget of about five quid.
@jenuflexion Watching the media act like Stalin's returned everytime a moderate social democrat suggests more money for public services is pretty hilarious though.
@RoosterThrow@Poniiboi I feel sorry for the gay guys who thought they were gonna get this and ended up with Jared Leto. At least it he wasn't a cop I guess.
@Joz1ahh He posts like this and then has all but one of his characters in monogamous relationships (and the only non-monogamous relationship was awful). Hickman's nowhere near as freaky as he thinks.
@wilding_gyres I agree that stopping the importation of cheap Russia resources was a mistake, but when it comes to China, Europe is right to push back against the importation of cheap goods. If they don't, European manufacturing will collapse (it'll collapse anyway, but slower this way).
@terminallyOL The major theme of DE, in my eyes at least, is the refusal to move on from the past, as seen in the stories of Harry, Revachol, and the Pale, but I'm too ogre-brained to fully understand its connection to post-soviet communism and the end of history.
@mcshadowface@c4ndiedblood The term actually came from the 1930s-40s and was originally used to refer to "ex-gays" who were said to have "gone straight" (as in "straight and narrow"). This meaning had less to do with coolness and more to do with criminality.
@fitnfuII All things will eventually be corrupted to serve the things they once criticised. Anything that can be weaponised will be weakened to the point of uselessness.
