@nclbrode I agree! Garden-based education is so important because you're able to integrate aspects of the curriculum into the outdoor learning environment (e.g. literacy and numeracy). Accomodation is vital in ensuring that our SE students are given A chance to participate
@RhiannaMilling1 That is a good point @RhiannaMilling1, I assume COVID-19 has changed a vast of aspects of the schooling environment. Whilst this may be the case, I hope to develop a safe, outdoor program that gives students the opportunity to meet new people, furthermore celebrating diversity.
This is why our school programs need to be accommodative! Our outdoor learning environment that we will be creating for our unit of work will be taken into account for our visitors with disabilities. #UoNTeach#educ4750 So much room for inclusion (Cavioni, Grazzani et al, 2017).
"There are numerous examples of the ways cities aren't accessible to residents with disabilities: sidewalks & busy street crossings lack ramps or clear signs, crosswalk timers are too short for the length of time needed to cross ..." https://t.co/0lOKI9jNZ1 #Accessibility
@BrookingsGlobal So many wonderful ways these students are making waves in the world. Thank you for sharing @BrookingsGlobal, I'll be sure to show my students the changes that they can make as #citizens of the #world.
@Tonims85 A fantastic idea Toni, thank you for sharing this one! Will definitely be getting our seeds from the Newcastle Seed Library for my Unit of Work. #newcastleseedlibrary
@HannahTiedeman @KHunter2001 What a brilliant idea @KHunter2001. @HannahTiedeman, you and I both! Thank you for sharing an effective (FREE) design resource for students to enjoy.
@miss_BCarter What a great visual image explaining TPACK! I aim to incoporate TPACK into my own lesson plans to ensure students are gaining the access to the best resources and ICT possible!
@MissNelson98@kab_nsw This is fantastic and will help with lots of aspects of SDG11 too, I'll be sure to incorporate this into my unit of work (urban inclusive sustainable garden)
@ruth_tomason That's not a bad idea Ruth, thanks for that! I aim to use some kind of design website to incorporate 21st Century Learning aspects into the Unit of Work. Definitely a fantastic idea doing an activity like this for kinaesthetic learners though - you're right!
@ruth_tomason Yes it is a brilliant book. How did your students respond to the storyline? We are focusing on SDG11 and the power of inclusivity in community.
Urban gardening has been suggested to significantly improve students' lives and academics. It is even more important when they are contributing their grown vegetables to the wider community, maybe even those who need it most.

@RhiannaMilling1@nosocials That is exactly what I was going to use this #photo for, a whole-group collaborative task. After analysing the image, we were going to mind-map ways that we could make this city more #sustainable and #inclusive.
And yes, a brilliant day @nosocials!
What a city we live in. A 'what can you see' task is a fantastic way to get students talking about urbanisation and what we can do to be more inclusive and sustainable. #UoNTeach#educ4075
Snapped by @nosocials when we were flying our drone this morning!
@Tonims85 Absolutely, this is a wonderful way to integrate the traditional people of the land and into the schooling environment. Are you inviting the Awabakal Land Council into your unit of work?
The Sustainable Schools NSW website is a great resource for anyone interested in sustainability! Whether you’re a teacher, student or parent https://t.co/SPCVgf9pxi #educ4750#UoNTeach
