@BenRamanauskas People that have ridden their entire lives in other disciplines have tried by buying already winning dressage horses for millions of dollars and have been unable to be successful at the top level.
@Amanda_Parsons@Age_of_Greed Nothing. It was rider error and the horse is the best in the world, worth millions and millions of dollars. He gets an apology and a carrot, and will show again in a few weeks.
@jonathanst29@sjokz No stress, because they are accustomed to traveling. These horses compete internationally all the time. They fly often, and their usual food etc goes with them. They have rest days and training days before each show, enough time to settle into the new place.
@TinkyDooo Every single move is caused by the rider’s hand, leg, and seat. Any part of the rider’s body or weight being out of place would lead to the wrong footfall or tempo. Voice is not allowed. Horses are fit and tough to control. Based off military maneuvers, Olympics since 1912.
@Wellsie_ @MelanieMoser_ Even people that have been riding their whole lives in other disciplines have been unable to be successful in dressage after purchasing top dressage horses. It requires innate skill, just like other sports.
@crookedcourses@Nat_Brizuela The pentathlon is the only sport where that happens, as it is not technically an equestrian sport. In the three equestrian disciplines the horse and rider qualify as a team. These horses compete internationally regularly and are very used to air travel.
