Tried to pick a fight at #NKFClinicals today in a debate on the Stewart approach to acid-base. I thought I would get a bigger rise from nephrologists when I showed them that the pH of a crystalloid has no affect on what it does in body to acid-base (what matters is the SID).
I also showed how it matters not what the kidney does with bicarbonate because the lungs excrete 850 mmol of CO2 per hour. Still no one threw anything at me. I guess nephrologists are just nice people.
