Today, Jan. 27, the Hartlee Field Parking Lot and Davis entrance will be closed until 5 p.m. The Collins Road entrance remains open.
@DentonFireDept will conduct prescribed burn on 6.4 acres at the Davis Prairie Loop just north of the CCNHC.

The sighting was called in without a photo. We cannot confirm the species of cat without photographic evidence, so we don't want to speculate. If you encounter any breed of medium-sized or big cat, please use caution.

We have had a big cat sighting reported by a hiker at Clear Creek. These animals have been spotted in the region so it is always important to take precautions when out hiking. Staff have contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Please keep in mind that attacks from big cats are rare.

Tips for staying safe while visiting Clear Creek:
- Keep space between you and the animal. Ensure the cat has a way to escape
- Avoid confrontation, alter your route
- Do not run, hold your ground or back away slowly
- Appear as large as you can - raise your arms, stand upright
