Looking forward the group aims to test whether MMP9 inhibition can be used as a therapeutic for improving muscle function in ageing mammals.
Congratulations to all authors!

First author Dr. Julie Yue Yuan showed MMP9 inhibition acted on inflammatory cells to promote a more effective migratory response of muscle stem cells, resulting in improved muscle repair in telomerase mutants.

CCRB paper alert!
Most snakes can open their mouths so wide they can consume food that is much larger than their own head. This is partly due to their โfreeโ mandibular symphysis, found to be both bone and cartilage-free. So, how โfreeโ is that symphyseal gap?

To celebrate International Women's Day @IWD2025 we have a new podcast series! We chat to 6 different women for 6 minutes each about the challenges and triumphs of being a #womaninSTEM https://t.co/hD6YRPpjQy
Happy (belated) International Women's Day! We are proud to be a woman-led department with 50% women PIs. Representation matters. And we have so many brilliant role models for our students and ECRs. #IWD2025#AccelerateAction#WOMENINSTEMM
Happy thanksgiving CCRB. Today we hosted a departmental potluck with dishes from all over the the globe ๐. The range of food was incredible and so delicious ๐คค
The CCRB annual โsummerโ party was rained off, but fear not a new event took its place in the form of CCRB olympics! โฝ๏ธ๐๐ what lab sports would you include?
We are hiring a new lecturer for CCRB! ๐จ Interested in craniofacial and stem cell biology, innovative approaches to regeneration and repair, and big data approaches to understand the complexity of development and disease. Apply by 6th October https://t.co/dVMZgSMaJL
It turns out...Komodo dragons have iron-coated teeth!
https://t.co/tcp3GGzXP7
Their serrations and tips pop into the mouth with an orange hue. Using different techniques, we show that these iconic lizards have special iron-rich coatings on each tooth, keeping them razor sharp!
Scientists have found Komodo dragons, the largest lizards in the world, have iron coated teeth.
@AaronLeBlanc6 (@kingsdentistry) says the study gives us clues to how dinosaurs like the T-rex may have ripped apart their prey #ScienceatKings

Special thank you to @BCRT for the travel grant, giving me the opportunity to attend and present at the meeting!
Graduation day!๐ฉโ๐ ๐งโ๐
One of the best days of the year sees our amazing PhD students graduate into Drs. Itโs a day to celebrate all their hard work with friends and family๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง
Congratulations to all CCRBโs new doctors!
@DrDanielDoro and @MichaelRGDack presented our latest work on macrophages in osteosarcoma metastasis at @eu_sarc this week. Lovely to catch up with different colleagues from far and wide. Looking forward to the Meeting in Venice next year!
Next April I will be running the London Marathon raising money for @BCRT! ๐โโ๏ธ ๐ฐ Please donate using the link below to my just giving page and support this amazing charity ๐ฆด๐ฆด
