Two months ago, a back-of-house sink fell on union leader Sharon Gilman as she was doing dishes at the Wake Forest & Six Forks store in Raleigh NC. Yesterday Sharon was fired for the incident, the same week ballots go out for her store.

This union was created just months ago (!!!), and they are currently ahead in a union election at a massive Amazon facility on Staten Island. Whatever happens, this will be a huge wake-up call to unions everywhere about the organizing possibilities in this moment.

A general update on the dueling Amazon union elections: Amazon Labor Union is leading on Staten Island, while the RWDSU is behind in Alabama. We may not have definitive results for either today, depending on when they break in NY or how many challenges there are in Bessemer.
