I was driving around Masset wondering why there was so many old fossil fuel furnaces out at the curb for garbage day. Then I remembered the community just did an install of 100+ heat pumps here. So great to see. @bchydro#ClimateEmergency#HeatPumps@SwitchItUpBC@switchison
Well, I'm going to be warm for the first time in 18 years. Used @bchydro rebate to switch from gas furnace to hyper-efficient Japanese ductless heat pump system. If you plan to do this, u must get a promo code for the rebate(s) by Mar 31 from BC Hydro. Link and info to come...
Replacing a gas space heating system with a @MitsubishiHVAC cold climate unit w fan coil. @BCGovNews and @greenestcity rebates make it (at present) cost neutral from a cap cost point of view. House is 1908, 50% new windows, 90% new wall/roof insulation @SwitchItUpBC@CCSHeating
@JohnSemmelhack @shawnahenders19 @energysmartohio @Read4Ks@JimRosenthal4@cameronmt29 In Vancouver BC CCHP cover more than 100% of the load, we just had the coldest night in 116 years, -8.5c, our Mitsubishi installed by @CCSHeating runs down to -30c. No problem to keep things +23c inside!
@AnakanaSchofiel@Lidsville Had 1 installed for our duplex in Van last yr by @CCSHeating, cost was $12,500, expecting a $10,000 rebate. The house next door is larger, got a quote for $15,500, would get the $12,000 rebate (80% of the cost as a max). Mention Higgins and save $100 after you get a quote w CCS
FYI Retrofit your building: if you have a gas furnace for heat, and want to switch to an electric heat pump system, there is a large BC Hydro rebate until June: ~$12,000. I'm told it was partly to stimulate the industry during the pandemic. Eg. https://t.co/7FrALmgR9E
