WA Department of Corrections is a mess. A shameful waste of state tax dollars. Familiar story in Olympia: The agency is mismanaged by underqualified DEI bureaucrats at the top of the org chart.
Ultimately, the current governor is at fault for this failure.

WSDOT admits that tearing down the Snake River Dams will cost $5 Billion+, and contribute about a quarter million tons of new CO2 emissions, per year.

It would also add a yearly maintenance cost of about $300 Million dollars, which is about the amount WSDOT spends today on highway maintenance FOR THE ENTIRE STATE OF WASHINGTON! None of these figures include the loss of power generation or the increase in utility bills, as clean and cheap hydroelectric capacity is reduced.

Seriously, Olympia Democrats need to stop wasting money on studies to tear down these dams. This latest study, for example, was $4 million in taxpayer money.

Tacoma's own Columbia Bank, Washington's largest homegrown bank, just moved its CEO and executive team to Scottsdale.

-Gee, I wonder why. The heat? Sandstorms? The cactus?
-Per the Puget Sound Business Journal, Washington's recent tax increases drove the move and will cost the bank $8 million a year.

Wait, what?
Last month Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen was asked about a statewide payroll tax, with business leaders standing right behind him. His answer: "it really depends on what happens with Initiative 645."

-Translation: vote the way Olympia wants, or else.

Columbia's CEO answered in black and white: "We would move non-customer-facing administrative roles subject to the tax to other states, principally Idaho and Arizona."
-And even without that tax: "we could see our Washington headcount continue to decline as we have had employees requesting relocation for affordability."

Many businesses here are too scared to say it out loud. Columbia just did. That's how you answer legislative extortion.

KROGER SLASHING 3,000 MORE AMERICANS TODAY AS THEY OUTSOURCE JOBS TO INDIA

Greg Foran became Kroger CEO on February 9, 2026. He ran Walmart US from 2014 to 2019. In 2016 he pulled accounting and invoicing out of every store and erased 7,000 back office jobs.

In 2018 Walmart handed its finance and accounting operations to Genpact, a firm with most of its workforce in India.

NOW HE IS USING THE SAME PLAYBOOK TO CUT JOBS AT KROGER

On his first earnings call in March, Kroger announced the Indian “Global Capability Center." CFO David Kennerley told investors it would "streamline decision-making, improve productivity and increase the speed at which we execute."

In July, consultant Brittain Ladd, citing people inside Kroger, reported the center is in India and the target is $500M a year in labor savings. At $87,500 per offshored role, that is roughly 5,700 US jobs.

3,000 MORE OF THEM CAME TODAY

His memo to employees today: “Our business is becoming leaner, more focused and more competitive. This transformation will also result in fewer roles across the company, which means we will reduce our corporate workforce across many functions.”

Code for, fuck your job, I can get it done cheaper in India.

Just look at what Foran has done with his executives. Jamie Lancaster, Global VP of the Kroger Capability Center, out in May. Tim Massa, Chief Associate Experience Officer, out. Valerie Jabbar and Joe Kelley, SVPs of Retail Divisions, out.

Foran replaced them with Walmart people. Mark Ibbotson is now Chief Store Operations Officer. Nate Faust is Chief E-commerce Officer. Both worked at Walmart with Foran.

Both know how to help Foran outsource American jobs.

On a bitter cold morning in 1956, Harry deLeyer showed up late to a Pennsylvania horse auction. The best horses had already been sold. One animal was left behind—a thin, dirty gray gelding loaded onto a truck bound for slaughter. Harry looked into his calm eyes and asked to buy him. The price was $80.

His young daughter named him Snowman because he was pale against the winter snow. At first he was just a gentle lesson horse. Harry eventually sold him for $160, but days later Snowman escaped his new home and walked back to Harry’s barn. Harry sold him again. Snowman came back again.

Only then did Harry realize the unwanted workhorse could clear five-foot fences. He bought him back and began training him as a show jumper. Within two years, the former plow horse was competing at Madison Square Garden against elite horses bred for the sport—and winning.

In 1958 and 1959, Snowman was named Horse of the Year, the first horse to win the title two years in a row.

The world called him “The Cinderella Horse.” He appeared on The Tonight Show, in Life magazine, and became a national celebrity. In 1969, Snowman retired at Madison Square Garden. As he left the arena for the final time, the crowd stood and sang “Auld Lang Syne.”

Snowman died peacefully in 1974 at the age of 26, with Harry beside him. He began life as a horse nobody wanted. But one man saw something others missed. Sometimes greatness doesn’t come with a pedigree. Sometimes it’s simply waiting for someone to believe. 🌹🐎
