CDFI bankers gathered at our Peer Forum in Washington this morning as Treasury Secretary Bessent was on the Hill answering Sen. Warner’s question about the holdup in CDFI funding. Bessent pledged to get the funding out. It’s past time to do so.

I was pleased to join the @CDBankers Congressional Reception and speak with leaders from community development banks and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) from across the country.
In South Texas, I have seen firsthand how access to capital can help a small business expand, support affordable housing projects, and create new opportunities for families and communities. CDFIs play an important role in reaching underserved areas and providing financing where it is often needed most.
As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I remain committed to supporting programs that help communities access the resources they need to grow and prosper. I will also continue working to ensure federal funding reaches the local organizations and communities it was intended to serve.
Thank you to Jeannine Jacokes, Joe Quiroga, and the Community Development Bankers Association for the invitation and for your continued work expanding economic opportunity in South Texas and across the country.
Advocacy Day may be over, but the #2026CDBAPeerForum is just getting underway! Our opening reception begins now in the Russell Senate Building.
Thank you to the members and staff who took the time today to meet with our bankers and discuss CDFI bank impact and priorities.
We are past halfway through Advocacy Day!
