Just two days ago, the Prime Minister acknowledged that Canada's civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians.
Today, Toronto Police announced additional arrests of hateful extremists who deliberately targeted visibly identifiable Jews in a series of attacks.
When Jewish Canadians cannot safely walk the streets of one of the country's most diverse cities, it is a warning sign for all Canadians.
We commend the Toronto Police Service, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit and the Hate Crime Unit, for their diligence in bringing those responsible to justice. But arrests alone will not solve this crisis.
The involvement of youth in many of these attacks should serve as a wake-up call. We are witnessing the consequences of radicalization and the normalization of hate. Governments, institutions, and authorities at every level must confront the forces driving this hatred and violence before more Canadians are put at risk.
Phase 1 of the new Senakw is opening.

So let me get this straight, I go to the grocery store and buy … a pound of sliced turkey in a plastic bag, a loaf of bread in a plastic bag, a gallon of milk in a plastic jug, a pack of napkins in plastic wrap, a store-made salad in a plastic tub, a plastic bottle of mustard and ketchup, but they won't give me a plastic bag to carry it home because the plastic bag is bad for the environment? 🙄😂
I’ll be generous by assuming this line came from a speechwriter, and that the Premier didn’t know that it’s verbatim Iranian regime propaganda, widely used as an antisemitic dog whistle.
But he degrades himself and his office by turning the murderous nature and genocidal intent of the Islamic Republic into a cheap political punchline.
Does he think the regime’s advanced efforts to build nuclear weapons and use them to “turn the little Satan (Israel) into a ball of fire” is a joke?
Does he understand the regime is detested by the overwhelming majority of the Iranian people, who desperately hope that this military campaign will accelerate the end of the Mullahs’ reign of terror?
Does he have zero understanding of the decades of violence and terror spread by the regime’s proxies across the world, from the hundreds of thousands murdered by the Iranian backed Assad regime, to the decades violent Jew hatred of Hamas & Hizbollah?
Does he think it is a mere distraction to stop Iran from building 100 ballistic missiles every month, some with a range that can strike Europe?
I’ve had high regard for Premier Kinew, despite our political differences. I hope this was just a monetary lapse in judgement.
But I fear it reflects the Canadian left’s brain dead embrace of even the worst regimes if they are opposed by Israel and the United States.
“If/when Avi Lewis becomes leader, antisemitism and anti-Zionism will no longer be tolerated in the NDP. They will become a foundational pillar of the party’s identity. The mask drops completely.”
Canada’s national crisis of antisemitism is escalating, and the Government has failed to take sufficient action to stop it.
On 14 January, B’nai Brith Canada wrote to the Prime Minister calling for a Royal Commission of Inquiry on antisemitism. On 26 January, we stood on Parliament Hill and repeated that call publicly.
We have received no response.
In the meantime, threats and attacks are intensifying. Shots fired at Jewish businesses and places of worship this week are not isolated incidents. They are the continuation of a disturbing national pattern.
Federal threat assessment reporting warns that a violent attack targeting the Jewish community remains a realistic possibility in Canada.
The risk is real. Real lives are at stake.
What will it take for the Government to finally act?
Today, B’nai Brith Canada is launching a national petition demanding that the Government of Canada establish a Royal Commission on antisemitism.
A Royal Commission is the highest level of independent public inquiry. It can compel evidence, expose institutional failure, and produce enforceable recommendations to restore safety and accountability.
Canadians deserve action. And if the Government refuses to act, we deserve answers.

Argentine President Javier Milei has announced the renaming of
Palestine Street in Buenos Aires
to Bibas Family Street,
honoring the memory of Shiri Bibas and her young children Ariel (4) and Kfir (9 months),
Argentine-Israeli citizens brutally kidnapped by Hamas on Oct 7, 2023, and later confirmed murdered in captivity.
I'm incredibly disappointed to see Councillor Sean Orr participating at a Samidoun-affiliated rally in Vancouver. Samidoun is a terrorist organization.
Anti-semitism has NO place in Vancouver. Celebrating Hamas has NO place in Vancouver. I call on all local elected officials to condemn this behaviour.
