I don’t blame the decision to bring on Phillips. I blame Phillips. 2 goals up, away and a solid counter-attacking game plan the move itself isn’t bad. But the player has to execute. He’s poor. Isn’t to a premiership standard.

Phillips is Championship quality. Can’t play in the Premier League. Poor referee decisions hurt the most but his play in midfield is what lost the match. #WHUFC

@Garrett15Will @WestHamViews_ Agree. The “set up to fail” narrative just doesn’t make sense with give aways, woeful passing and pressing. No one was told to do that. That’s on the players. They didn’t execute the game plan. The plan and players changed at half and then they executed far better.

@samdavidstone I don’t think that players think they can’t compete or go out to lose but realistic goals setting and achievements help the sport psychology of the club. Look at what aspirational thinking has done to the fan base. Feelings of constant disappointment aren’t a recipe for success.
