Congratulations to Amelia Helliwell and Rosie Redstone, our newly elected @Conservatives councillors for Alsager Town Council! 🎉 @RosieNorthWest@CEC_Cons
Fortunately her views will not dampen the enthusiasm of football fans across the nation including our own Crewe Alexandra Soccer Association of which Cllr Bratherton is a charitable trustee!
What an extraordinary response from Crewe East‘s Labour Councillor Joy Bratherton! Despite her own Labour Party comrades having shared ’encouraging’ football social media posts against the background of the flag of St George!

Conservative Group Leader Janet Clowes was alerted to Cllr Asquith's email last night. He has been instructed to issue an apology and told that in the interests of public and member confidence, he must not attend today's Council meeting.
The Tories have taken back the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner. John Dwyer will get back into the office he lost to Labour in 2016. Interesting given the only concurrent elections were again in Warrington and Halton where Labour *normally* do better than the Conservatives.
Cllr Craig Browne’s vote: 39 for, 32 abstain, 3 against - Indie Leader wins Deputy leadership if CEC by just 4 votes - not the triumphal start to the committee system he'd hoped for!
Congleton's recycling centre WON'T be replaced when its lease runs out in Sept. @CheshireEast has previously said it'd be too expensive. Cllr Laura Crane said the council did try to buy the land and extend the lease, but can't use compulsory purchase powers...
Patrick Redstone is first, asking how many planning officers have left since 2018 - he says income from planning advice fees has fallen by 33% since then
In the middle of his question, he's interrupted by someone shouting 'go on/off'.
Cllr Toni Fox says she'll provide a written
The Conservative cllr behind the motion of no confidence in the mayor - Liz Wardlaw - said "the irony will not be lost on any of us" that Barry Burkhill approved a @CheshireEast motion condemning bullying "just days" before that infamous Handforth Parish Council meeting.
The loss of Local Area highway groups to pay for Cllr Marren grit bins will have a disproportionate impact on rural wards with greater highway networks. A £4k budget will pay for just one dropped kerb per year!
This excellent model has been highjacked by Cllr Crane’s inclusion of the word 'highways' to the detriment of single member & rural wards and of course their residents.
He added: “The people’s money has been misdirected from the services which our community desperately needs…. We must not allow them to be diverted to fund the administration's vanity projects."
Cllr Redstone has stated that he also will not be supporting the CE Lab/Ind Budget for 2021-25 as it fails to cater for the needs of our future CE population.
Cllr Redstone said: “This unprincipled administration is trying to increase the burden on council tax payers by over 5% while avoiding a referendum which only if passed would legitimise their actions.”
He has said that there needs to be an end of unfairness as taxpayers across the Borough are treated differently and the administration was seeking to further burden Town and Parish Councils with performing services CEC had been paid to perform!
Cllr Groves is currently speaking in opposition to the budget. It is unfair to residents as it charges them twice for services through double taxation. Nantwich residents pay a precept for the Market as well as contributing to Crewe Market through their CEC Council tax.
Cllr Groves called on the current ruling group to introduce a Borough wide review involving both town and parish councils to address double taxation to ensure fairness, acting in the interests of the taxpayer and to do the right thing.
