Dear JASMIN users,
The JASMIN systems team have made a temporary licence server running CentOS 7, intended for a limited period of time in order to restore the use of the existing Intel compilers for the remaining life of the CentOS 7 installation on the "sci" machines and LOTUS.

[Centre for Environmental Data Analysis @cedanews]

We have realised that the Intel licence support has ceased on JASMIN, we are looking to provide a new version of the Intel compiler (2024.2.0) which is available as a standalone component (no licensing required).
Further updates (15.0 to 20.0) will follow shortly.

[Centre for Environmental Data Analysis @cedanews]

The CEDA Data Catalogue will be undergoing maintenance from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm today, Wednesday the 10th of July, and we expect some disruption to the service during this time.

JASMIN has received £5.7 million investment for its parallel compute cluster, LOTUS - tripling its capacity to ~55,000 cores.

The upgrade provides improved performance and reduced queue times - enabling greater workflows for users from Summer 2024.

A whole year of record breaking ocean temperatures.

This warmth has significant effects on ocean ecosystems. A large fraction of the world’s human population rely on protein from the ocean to live. Disruption to life in the ocean does affect us all.
