Most DevOps roadmaps are 80% hype.
Here’s the one that actually gets you hired in 2026 👇

I’ve seen 100+ DevOps interview loops at top companies.

This is the EXACT roadmap that consistently works:

Phase 1 - Linux Fundamentals
Not everything.
Just what actually matters for DevOps:

• Filesystem & permissions
• Processes & signals
• Networking basics (ports, curl, netstat)
• Package managers
• Bash scripting

If you can’t debug Linux, you can’t do DevOps.

Phase 2 - Containers (In This Exact Order)
1️⃣ Docker
2️⃣ Kubernetes
3️⃣ Helm

No shortcuts.

Master image building → container networking → volumes → Then orchestration → deployments → services → ingress → Then packaging with Helm.

Most people try to skip Docker.
That’s why they struggle in Kubernetes interviews.

Phase 3 - CI/CD
Start with GitHub Actions.

It’s modern. It’s everywhere. It’s easier to learn.

Understand:
• Pipelines
• Runners
• Artifacts
• Secrets management
• Deployment workflows

Then learn Jenkins,
but only if your target job requires it.

Phase 4 - Cloud (AWS Core)
You don’t need 200 services.

For 80% of interviews, you need:
• Amazon EC2
• Amazon S3
• AWS IAM
• Amazon VPC
• Amazon RDS

If you deeply understand these 5, you can design most real-world systems.

Phase 5 - Observability
If you can’t monitor it, you can’t run it.

Learn:
• Prometheus
• Grafana
• Basic alerting
• Metrics vs logs vs traces

Most junior engineers skip this.
Senior engineers get hired because of this.

This roadmap isn’t trendy.
It’s practical.

It’s built from real interview signal.
