@TheBlueDodger@SJohnsonSport Wait till this guy gets bullied by all midfielders and wingers in the PL and they'll realise he's not made for PL. He flopped massively at brighton and he's not built for PL. Jorginho esque signing, decent at times but bullied in many games.
@TheBlueDodger@SJohnsonSport So for LB we’re being stuck with:
Hato, a CB
Barco, a DM
Gusto, a RB
And potentially Quenda, a RW?
Yeah, we’re going to be the new Spurs!
It’s this short sighted thinking which has got us in this mess.
Hato has shown promise but most of those good performances second half of the season were at centre back.
For once be serious and get a proper replacement.
‘Alonso will get the players he wants..’
Who the fuck is wanting to join us in our current state. Our owners are clowns, we have nothing this coming season.. what they coming for, to be part of a circus..?! The UK Gov & BlueCo have ruined this club
Jorrel Hato had a very good end to the season, playing as a CB. He had a very poor start to his Chelsea career, and didn't look great at LB. He's also only just turned 20-years-old. Great prospect and looks good.
The PR I've seen today though is shameless and so intentional. Let the boy develop. I've also seen Malo Gusto mentioned, Valentin Barco, both as 'reasons' for selling Marc Cucurella along with how much they rate Hato.
Cucurella left because he wanted out since January, not other reason - that is why they 'let him go'. Hato is not a reason, nor is Barco, Gusto, or any other shoehorn option they want to mention. A serious club replaces Cucurella, a serious player, with another serious player to COMPETE with Hato, rather than use him as the reason they sold Cucurella and over-hype him in briefings. It's so tiresome. Stop shoehorning 'swiss army knives' and start acting like a serious club again.
What Chelsea fans are struggling to accept is Cucu and Enzo both knew their time was up here and didn’t wanna play for us anymore.. and that’s okay..
Just please stop acting like they cared when they spoke out on the project they did it for themselves and own personal gain 🎯
Maxi Araujo of Sporting is one name I was given as a possible Marc Cucurella replacement a couple weeks back, but there will be other names too. Lewis Hall is who they would really want but I see little chance of that.
Perfect time to sell. Had a good year or so at Chelsea but a very limited player who cannot fulfil some basic requirements needed as a modern fullback in the premier league. We are finally free.
If they want to go, they can go. This needs to be a change at Chelsea. We need to realise the mistakes and the serious fuckeries that have happened the last few years.
Let them go. Rebuild and fucking rebuild properly. Let Alonso take the lead. Now.
People saying why did Chelsea not just recoup the fee - it was widely felt at the time Chelsea massively overpaid anyway! You can't suddenly now just shift the goalposts.
A good fee for a player who has had erratic performances since Christmas and signalled his intent to not stay. Chelsea also already have a good replacement ready in Jorrel Hato. Also wasn't really obvious where he fitted in around Xabi Alonso's plans. As for the player, Marc Cucurella's done well after a shaky start at Chelsea and is a very much a Jose Mourinho style defender. Being an ex-Barcelona youngster and La Masia graduate going to Real Madrid is always a brave move, do wonder if it means Alvaro Carreras will be sold.
Over €50m total package means Chelsea will likely also book a profit on the player. Overall, business that suits all parties.
I don’t think losing Cucurella is the end of the world. I wonder if he’s a player that reached his peak in 2024/25 and it’s only down from here.
Also his lack of leadership and response in 25/26 to defensive collapses doesn’t show a player with elite mentality
