“The changes don't have an impact on Port Adelaide's bid for top 2026 draft prospect Dougie Cochrane to be approved for NGA status, with the club's application to be assessed on the current criteria being met.”
Major changes have been made to the Next Generation Academy system.
It will no longer matter where a draftee is born - a player is only NGA eligible if a parent is born overseas.

@Addyant23 Yeah I think he has really high potential just doesn’t really fit a need for us. If he wants to come home though i’d take him especially with the giants struggling with list spots.
@Addyant23 Yeah I agree with that. Our depth is weak along with the bottom end of our 22, but we need to reach 95% of the salary cap. Does that mean we are going to end up paying overs on average players? Not really sure how that works. Seems like Wehr and Brodie will come but hoping more.
@danbatten_@mattturner1986@superfooty Is Rodan actually draft-eligible for Essendon though? He’s tied to their NGA, however Fijian heritage isn’t currently part of NGA’s (looking to expand). Should only be able to be drafted by port as of now.
