…being super mathematicians by using different strategies to show our problem solving skills as well as writing about our strategies. We are so close to being first graders! This makes my ❤️ so, so HAPPY! @Willard_School
Today we learned a few fluency games using our Cuisenaire Rods. We first raced to 100 with our partner. We used our decomposing skills if the rod didn’t fit in our row of ten. We also practiced our doubles facts and explained how equations were related. So Proud! @Willard_School
…practicing our counting skills by skip counting by 10’s and counting on from 10. We are also rolling tens-frame dice and then building our number that we count using tens and ones. @Willard_School
…Groundhog Day has always been a favorite of mine! Kindergarteners talk about the weather each morning, but today was a little extra special. We learned all about Punxsutawney Phil and watched his prediction. Check out our cool craft of him and his shadow! @Willard_School
…representing equations and practicing our addition skills in many ways! Seeing and hearing how our peers think helps us learn new strategies! We are SUPER Kindergarten mathematicians! @Willard_School#WillardPride
…Kindergartners have been practicing their addition skills through various activities. Check out our holiday trees and our addition equations that match. Talk about impressive! #willardpride@Willard_School
Our Friendship Wreath! We discussed what makes a good friend and who our special friends are. We turned our ideas into bracelets and attached them to a wreath. What a great way to continue to build a strong, safe, and loving classroom community! #WillardPride@Willard_School
…Kindergartners have been working on building addition equations and today we practiced by counting snowflakes in our mittens to find sums. #WillardPride@Willard_School
…counting, building, and comparing our trains with our partners! We are practicing our comparing skills by using strong mathematician language such as greater than, less than, more than, less than, and equal to. #willardpride@Willard_School
This morning we learned how to partner read and we were so excited to give it a try. We practiced sitting knee to knee, sharing the book, and see-saw reading. We are continuing to grow as a classroom community by sharing our interests through the books we read. @Willard_School
…We love reading our letter book of the day during ABC Bootcamp. These readers get excited to add new words to our Circle Map that we may have left out the first time around. #WillardPride@Willard_School
Cuisenaire Rods were introduced today and these mathematicians showed some impressive thinking. We began with noticings and wonderings and moved on to comparing and building numbers. A big takeaway today was that each rod holds a specific value. @Willard_School
…learning attributes of buttons and finding ways to match them up! We decided to challenge ourselves after first pairing the buttons to match three and four buttons based on what they had in common! #willardpride@willardschool
…we are learning our 2D shapes and decided to have some fun with them using our imagination to build our own shape collages! #willardpride@Willard_School
…today we talked about what it looks like and sounds like to work with a partner in math. After our discussion, we practiced our partner work with identifying numbers and practicing our counting skills by matching numbers to the correct Dominoes. @Willard_School#willardpride
These brilliant mathematicians made new sorting discoveries! They noticed that their bears were either sitting or standing as well as their different sizes. Specifically noticing he had small, medium, and large bears. We also practiced counting and number writing! @Willard_School
