International Day of Happiness 😊 Happiness can feel confusing to a grieving child. They may laugh with friends, feel a moment of joy, and then wonder if it’s wrong to feel that way. Today is a reminder that it’s okay for joy and grief to sit together. 🤍 🧩
‘You can’t just take health as one aspect of somebody’s life and ignore housing, education, poverty levels, social care—all the other things. We can’t just look after people in slices.’ https://t.co/juJYu0tZVj
Urgent, please retweet to help find a foster home for these abandoned puppies found today March 29 2026... found under a bush #OXFORDSHIRE#UK
Please only apply if you have the time, experience, knowledge and space for all of them✅
This afternoon, seven tiny puppies were handed in after they were found under a bush in #Abingdon.
Whilst we don't know the circumstances that led them to end up there, the most important thing is that they are all safe now and are currently with our vets at The Hart Veterinary Centre in #Bicester & Aylesbury, being warmed up before being given some much-needed milk.
We are urgently looking for a foster carer who can hand-rear these pups and give them the best start in life.
Before applying, please read the following
🐶 You must be able to commit to at least the next 8 weeks to feeding them and socialising them.
🐶 Ideally, you would have a dog in the home who is well socialised and able to help teach them good dog manners.
🐶 They will be hard work, so please don't apply if you can't fully commit to them.
🐶 You must be able to take them to Hart Vets in Bicester for check-ups.
🐶 You will need to bring them to the sanctuary for adoption meets.
The sanctuary will provide everything they need whilst in your care.

ANY OFFERS OF SPACE MUST COME FROM THE RESCUE OFFERING.
WE DO NOT AND HAVE NEVER ASK FOR PLEDGES.
We understand that feeling run high and people feel angry when this happens but It’s really important people understand what’s actually happening behind the scenes with pound dogs in the UK
When we share urgent posts, it’s not to upset people or be dramatic — it’s because these dogs are genuinely at risk due to lack of space. Council pounds have a legal duty to hold stray dogs for a set period, but they don’t have unlimited kennels. When those kennels are full and more dogs keep coming in, incredibly difficult decisions have to be made.
The heartbreaking truth is: it isn’t the people sharing these posts, and it isn’t the pound staff, who are to blame. The people working in pounds are often animal lovers themselves, doing the best they can in an impossible situation.
The real issue starts much earlier.
It’s the result of:
Dogs being bred without thought or responsibility
Owners not neutering their pets
People buying dogs without understanding the commitment
Dogs being abandoned, passed around, or handed in when life changes
By the time a dog reaches the pound, the system is already under pressure — and the options are limited.
When we post these dogs, we are trying to prevent that outcome, not cause it. Every share, every foster home, every adoption gives a dog a chance that they otherwise wouldn’t have.
We understand it’s upsetting — it upsets us too. But turning on the people trying to help doesn’t change the reality for these dogs.
If you want to make a difference, the best ways to help are:
Consider fostering or adopting
Support rescues and pounds
Promote responsible ownership and neutering
Share the dogs that need homes
We’re all on the same side here — trying to give these dogs the second chance they deserve

Urgent please retweet to help blind Lucy find a foster/forever home, within 3 hours drive of #GLASGOW#SCOTLAND#UK 💔💔💔
Details or apply below 👇
https://t.co/ZzcV4iUI1F?
URGENT APPEAL ~ for a foster-to-adopt home for little Lucy, a blind dog. The home MUST be in a quiet countryside location, child-free, pet-free, terrier-loving, and kind, with its own private, secure garden and within a three-hour drive of Glasgow.
https://t.co/RPOjCMeSwX...
We realise these are rather specific requirements and so would really appreciate your help in reaching the right person(s). We are keen to move Lucy to a foster home where she is very likely to be adopted by her foster carer, so that she doesn't have to be moved again, hence this foster-to-adopt appeal. Oldies Club will arrange transport to her new foster home and cover the cost of any vet care she might need while in foster, until she is adopted
Lucy is a 12-year old Jack Russell Terrier, who originally came into Oldies Club care a year ago. She was adopted by her foster carer, but sadly is no longer happy there due to the location of the home and the need to be walked where there is loud traffic noise, which increasingly frightens her
Lucy loves to sit on your lap and enjoy very gentle strokes, but no cuddles, thank you very much! Due to being blind, she can be startled and does have some quirks. If you are going to touch her, you need to gently let her know first. She loves adult visitors to the home, welcoming them and bring her toys for them to play with her. Her bed is her safe space, where she is left in peace and where she sleeps downstairs at night (she couldn't manage a full flight of stairs).
Lucy loves a car ride and gets very excited! She is fine to be lifted carefully into the car, but is generally not keen on being picked up. She is seeking a home in the countryside, with not too many other dogs around, as she is frightened of meeting dogs. She walks confidently once she has had a chance to mentally map out a regular route and enjoys a good sniff about in peaceful environments . She is only let off-lead in a secure garden.
Lucy can be left at home for around three hours, once settled into the home. She is house-trained, active for her age and generally in good health.
Please read through all the info on her page:
https://t.co/RPOjCMeSwX... and only offer to foster Lucy if you truly believe your home and situation to be a good match and if you have no holiday plans. If you're not her person-to-be, please help spread the word. Thank you - @oldiesclub

Margot may be blind, but please don’t give up on her.
Since losing both her eyes, beautiful Basset Margot developed severe separation anxiety. Now in complete darkness, her need for closeness is understandably more considerable.
Rusty has been let down twice by adopters. He simply wasn’t given the time he needed to adjust to his new surroundings.
Please share and help us find Rusty a home where he his new family will be 100% committed to him.
Please don’t give up on him 😔
