Indian mangoes are a celebration of flavour, heritage and diversity. This is a sentiment echoed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a recent Mann Ki Baat, where he spoke passionately about the rich legacy of mangoes in India and the dedication of the farmers who nurture them. CGI Manchester, in association with Sahhyaadri Limited, organised an Indian Mango Fest at rich orchards of #DunhamMassey, showcasing more than 13 varieties of Indian mangoes.

- Guests enjoyed tasting the ripened mangoes, along with freshly made Mango Lassi, Mango Shake and Mango Marmalade, candies et al.

- The fest also featured live henna hand painting, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the celebration.

- The event was graced by distinguished guests including Hon’ble MP Connor Rand and Hon’ble MP Navendu Mishra along with legendary cricketer Mr. Farooq Engineer, among others. The residents of Cheshire thoroughly enjoyed this Indian delicacy.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and attended the festival, helping make it a memorable celebration of India's beloved fruit.

The views of Pope Leo XIV @Pontifex on AI resonate with that of Prime Minister Modi’s @narendramodi vision on AI. Both Leaders emphasised on human aspect on AI and gave a clarion call to make it inclusive and welfare-oriented. Pope Leo XIV said- “In the era of artificial intelligence when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanisation, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human”

Similarly, PM Modi stated during AI Impact Summit 2026 that “Technology exists to serve humanity, not replace it”. The purpose of the Summit according to him was to “make AI responsible rather than reckless”.

Both approaches warn that AI could deepen inequality if acces to data remains concentrated. Pope’s framework is rooted in human dignity and PM Modi’s MANAV framework translates into similar principles.

A new chapter in India-Oman economic ties.

The India-Oman CEPA enters into force today, unlocking opportunities for trade, investment and jobs, including for the youth.

With zero-duty access on 98.08% of Oman’s tariff lines covering 99.38% of trade value, the agreement will boost exports, give a boost to MSMEs and strengthen labour-intensive sectors, while creating new avenues for Indian professionals across key sectors. It also safeguards important sectors including dairy and agriculture.

A landmark step towards deeper economic partnership, greater prosperity and mutually beneficial growth.

Mr Santosh Kumar, Consul, attended the “Bollywood Musical Nights” tribute to Asha Bhosle. The charity event, held on 30 May, was organised by Golden Chords Entertainment in association with Shree Bharatiya Mandal in support of AIM Trust, which works for blind and physically challenged children in India.
Bringing together culture, charity, and community, the evening celebrated the enduring legacy of Indian music while supporting a meaningful cause. Renowned UK singers Ms Kavita Rajput and Mr Danny Kochhar delivered captivating live performances, celebrating the timeless songs of the legendary Ashaji.

CG attended Manchester Baishakh Festival organised by Bengali community. The festival marks the advent of New Year in Bengali culture.
CG, in her remarks, highlighted the outstanding contribution by the community in the field of Culture, Art, Music, cinema and literature globally. CG also commended the contribution of Bengali community in North England, not only fostering cultural connect but also for their economic contributions.
The event witnessed the performance and talk by the National Award winning film-maker from Kolkata, Dr Kamleshwar Mukherjee. Happy Pohela Boishakh to those celebrating.

The curtain raiser of the International Yoga Day was organised at the Consulate, with enthusiastic participation from partner organisations, local communities, practitioners, and friends of India. The event also featured a dedicated Ayurveda corner, adding to the spirit of holistic wellness.

CG mentioned the vision of Prime Minister Modi and his efforts in universalising Yoga. CG spoke about this year’s theme- “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, underlying its significance in slow decline and restoring flexibility and strength.

We were grateful for the thoughtful words of Hon’ble MP from Stockport, Mr @NavPMishra , on the importance of such initiatives in strengthening community ties.

It was a true honour to felicitate Ms Madhusmita Jena, who has completed 44 marathons over 18 years. Her journey as the fastest marathon runner in a saree is a remarkable reflection of tradition, endurance, and inspiration.

Thank you to everyone for your support in making this event a success. We look forward to your continued participation in the upcoming Yoga events all across the North England.

A delegation of SMEs from India visited Yorkshire to explore pathways for meaningful collaboration, reaffirming the growing depth of UK–India economic engagement.

At a special networking session hosted in partnership with regional stakeholders, CG highlighted the strong synergies between India and Northern England, particularly across sectors such as advanced materials, textiles, life sciences, R&D, creative industries, and fintech.

The discussions brought together industry leaders, academia, policymakers, and business representatives, underlining a shared commitment to fostering innovation-led partnerships, strengthening trade linkages, and enabling sustainable growth.

The interactions reflected a collective ambition to build dynamic ecosystems that support entrepreneurship, knowledge exchange, and long-term bilateral cooperation.

CGI team joined the Kerala Muslim families in Manchester and surrounding areas for a warm Eid al-Adha gathering by AHLAN.

The celebration brought together over 200 members of the community, reflecting a spirit of togetherness and festivity.

CG joined the community at Bradford to celebrate Vaisakhi, organised by the Yorkshire Sikh Forum and extended warm greetings to the Sikh community. CG commended the leader Shri Nirmal Singh Sekhon for promoting community harmony, interfaith understanding, youth engagement and social welfare across Yorkshire. Such efforts strengthen friendships, mutual respect and instil unity.

Vaisakhi is deeply significant occasion with a message of courage and sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh and teachings of compassion and universal brotherhood by Guru Nanak Dev.

The Sikh Diaspora has made extraordinary contributions globally, including in the UK through their enterprising approach and public service. The spirit of Seva remains a shining example of the community.
