When you stop blaming all government wrongdoing on a few bad apples (or one bad party) and instead confront the systemic corruption, abuses, and injustices that derive from concentrated power, you’ll be on track to addressing the problems.
Neither of the old parties is committed to representative democracy. Republicans want to severely restrict voting. Democrats clamor for one-size-fits-all centralized government. Republicans and Democrats have killed the legislative process by consolidating power in a few leaders.
@HoodsportG @ernestomarat@justinamash That’s crony corporatism and not capitalism. And yes, lots of “conservatives” take part in that. And lots of “liberals” do too. That’s why I’m a #Libertarian
@AnCapMennonite @ComicDaveSmith@RealSpikeCohen@LPNational That’s definitely not true among my family, friends, and business contacts. They agree with my posts about big government and freedom but point out trash posts made by other libertarians as their excuse for not joining. Don’t get me wrong- It’s an excuse- I also used to use it.
The Tulsa massacre of 100 years ago reminds us of the horrors inflicted through racial violence. Our striving for love, equality, and liberty will continue to fall short if we do not acknowledge the history of hate that led to atrocities committed against our fellow human beings.
The Biden administration still hasn’t reversed this despicable and unlawful policy on civil asset forfeiture. Inexcusable. Don’t say you care about justice reform but leave in place a policy that steals billions of dollars from people, especially low-income and Black Americans.
Conservatives shouldn't celebrate Florida's social media law, because trading Big Tech for Big Government will inevitably backfire.
I make the case in the Daily Caller: https://t.co/LrEzsVNssn
@ComicDaveSmith@RealSpikeCohen I've seen the dogshit CRA post from LPNH shared by several people I follow who rarely/never talk about libertarians. They're all mocking it. Terrible posts like that leak out of the movement far easier than positive posts. I guess if you just want notoriety, that's fine...
@ComicDaveSmith@RealSpikeCohen You’re missing a major point @ComicDaveSmith People see the bad messaging and don’t want to join @LPNational when state affiliates put out that type of messaging. I was hopeful that things would improve after your PA speech but I’m not seeing it so far. Only doubling down.
The filibuster shouldn’t be eliminated but instead limited to require that a senator hold the floor by speaking (as it used to be). And the filibuster should be restored for Supreme Court nominees. Laws can be re-evaluated every Congress; SCOTUS appointments are for a lifetime.
This absolutely is speech protected by the First Amendment (and so is yelling fire in a theater). In the United States, speech can be both appalling to people and also protected. It should be noted this is a feature of America, not a bug; a strength, not a weakness.
