I stood this morning at the 9/11 memorial at ground zero in NYC this morning. It is 25 years ago (minus one day) since those dreadful attacks killed 2,753, including 67 British citizens and so many brave rescuers and firemen.

To put the passing of these 25 years into context - I was born in 1966 in a British military hospital on the north German plain near where Montgomery took the surrender of the Nazi Army in 1945, and only 25 years after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour.

And if that doesn’t prove how fleeting is the notion of “peace”, we just have to look east and observe how the mighty Ukrainians are fighting and dying to evict Russian invaders from their country.

Yet we, sensible, experienced and clear-eyed British citizens stand dumbfounded today reflecting on how the current, lightweight, daytime-TV-version of a Prime Minister of the UK, the utterly ridiculous @andyburnham of @labour tells us that he will prioritize “social security” over “national security”….

Here’s some media literacy: impartiality does not require journalists to treat established facts as matters of opinion. 9/11 was a terrorist attack. Full stop. That has been established. Long established. Calling it one is not editorializing or making a judgement call. If this policy was truly so “carefully considered,” you’d think @CBC management might have solved that journalistic mystery before the public had to do it for them. The problem isn’t that @CBCNews reversed course. It’s that management needed a public backlash to recognize the obvious flaw in their JSP.

@Landonforward14 What happened to the $3.61B - and I believe there was more - that Calgarians paid on their monthly water bills for maintenance that wasn’t spent on maintenance? The review needed to be done but there are still many unanswered questions.
