Proud 🇨🇦 CPC MP for Okanagan Lake West-South Kelowna. Let’s build what matters & defend what works. Judge government not by its promises, but what it delivers
On this episode of Finding Solutions, I sat down with Calgary Shepard MP and Deputy Speaker @tomkmiec to break down what Albertans are really thinking right now, how federal Conservatives are making the case for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada, and rebuilding of Parliament- at least the buildings!
Come for the talk on Alberta, stay for the Yiddish proverbs.

A much wiser, MLA once told me that as an elected official you have two choices: respect the voters and get to work or get out. Because sooner or later, voters will always figure out what kind you were.
I am glad to hear @LDoerkson confirm he is the former, not the latter…
Lorne Doerkson on Wab Kinew’s comments that the BC results “should concern every elected politician” and that being elected is “a responsibility not to be played with”:
“Well, I don’t disagree. We should all be concerned. British Columbians voted for change last night and for whatever reason they liked the platform that we put forward. … I’ve always been somebody that the moment I’ve been elected I’ve got to work and for me that isn’t going to change. I intend to get to work right away. I intend to work for British Columbia hard because four years comes quick.” @WabKinew@LDoerkson
West Kelowna–Peachland, thank you.
It’s an incredible honour to be re-elected as your MLA. Thank you for trusting me to keep standing up for the place I call home.
To my campaign manager, Jane, volunteer coordinator, Nicole, and our volunteers and supporters, I couldn’t have done this without you.
Whether you voted for me or not, I am here to serve you. I will remain accessible, listen and work hard to earn your trust every day.
Let’s get to work.
#Cdnhistory fun fact. Tommy Douglas’ fav dessert was raisin pie. On his deathbed - as daughter Shirley told me - Tommy asked for raisin pie. “Is it good for him?” worried the family. Doctor: “Let him enjoy what’s left of life. Give him the pie.”

The Carney Government had better consult with the Premier Designate of BC. I am fearful of a potential deal being struck without buy in from the incoming BC government that doesn’t include Softwood lumber- a key industry in BC.
The latest we’re hearing on US-Canada talks: Hassett says talks have “picked up” and they’re “very close” to a deal. It’s been LeBlanc and Lutnick (not Greer), but a U.S. official tells me the Canadians aren’t offering enough right now. No word yet today from the Canadians.
The PBO is right to flag that the Carney Liberals are not disciplined or transparent on their deficit spending.
We’ve seen what happens in 🇨🇦 when Government borrows & spends too much indiscriminately. Large debt payments puts pressure on programs & services
Are you concerned?
Great to see so many people wearing their poppies at #YLW today. Grateful for the assistance of local Cadets that are here selling them on behalf of the RCL’s poppy fund. #lestweforget
Sending a huge congratulations to our new Premier and his majority government. BC citizens spoke loudly on the need for change and it cannot arrive soon enough. Thank you to everyone who came out to vote.
It is odd at this late stage of an election to receive an endorsement like this- last minute favour for a campaign in trouble? Is Vanouver Yaletown looking to @Margare7a for change? 👀
Thank you to all candidates, for stepping up for your communities. Democracy requires choice, testing and courage. Thank you to all their volunteers and of course those that conducted the election process. Our province is better off for having you!
Congratulations to Premier Designate @LDoerkson. Great campaign @katy_merrifield and friends! So proud of the @BCConservCaucus who worked so hard to earn the trust of their constituents.
BC has a bright future. Looking forward to see what comes next!
Minister MacKinnon and I agree Canada needs to build ports, rail, and roads to expand trade beyond the US.
So why does Bill C-39 give statutory 1-year timelines to other projects, but makes the Transportation Projects Office completely optional under Clause 192?
Got to stop in and offer my best wishes to Carl Zanon on his 90th birthday. Carl is a wonderful man, surrounded by his lovely wife Carol & family and pictures of so many adventures around the world. Congratulations Carl!
