[HEAT-ALARM @AlarmHeat]

⤵

[HEAT-ALARM @AlarmHeat]

[HEAT-ALARM @AlarmHeat]

1/3 Glad to share that our latest work has been published in the Scientific Data journal of @NaturePortfolio. It describes the development of a novel human thermal bioclimate dataset using the @CopernicusECMWF CERRA reanalysis, gridded population and human energy balance modeling

HEAT-ALARM: A year in review

[HEAT-ALARM @AlarmHeat]

🎉HEAT-ALARM has successfully completed its first year of research related to heat and its impact on human health:
1️⃣ The project's first e-newsletter provides a brief summary of this research here: https://t.co/Ystm37UGHF;

1⃣In our latest research paper with Dr. @Stavros_Dafis, Dr. Vassiliki Kotroni and Dr. Kostas Lagouvardos we investigated the role of the increased GHG concentrations during the extreme heat wave that affected Greece in the summer of 2021.⤵️

[HEAT-ALARM @AlarmHeat]

For those attending @EuropeanMetSoc #EMS2023, @ilias_aga will give an informative talk about the combined use of regional reanalysis (@CopernicusECMWF CERRA in particular) and population data for human-biometeorological applications. ⤵️

📚 Publication Alert 🚨
Two peer-reviewed papers have been published in the proceedings of #COMECAP2023:
1️⃣ The first describes the conceptual framework and scientific realization of HEAT-ALARM (including some preliminary results). Available at: https://t.co/WWcNL5BBaL ⤵️

[Christos Giannaros @CGiannaros]

Speaking to the @washingtonpost about the recent Mediterranean #wildfires. Prevention includes landscape management & early warning systems that allow for interventions before wildfires become monsters.

🔥Observing extreme #fire behaviour is key to building capacity to anticipate and mitigate extreme wildfires. Our team @meteogr in #Greece teams up with @wildfirecenter to build a long-term observational field program. @FireWeatherLab 🤝💪
