Housing supply elasticities are fundamental in understanding the recent rise in house prices. We use a foreign demand shock for local housing to provide new housing supply elasticities for the largest 100 US CBSA’s.

How housing supply responds to prices affects choices made by households and firms.
It also impacts the entry cost to a location, governing the equilibrium of spatial models that allow for sorting across space and potentially contributing to resource misallocation.
